The Paper Players 500th Challenge

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper PlayersThis week, Jaydee is hosting a VERY special challenge.

The Paper Players are celebrating 500 challenges and we have a special Clean-and Simple Theme Challenge. Check it out and play along with us to celebrate this awesome milestone!
I’m SO excited for this week at The Paper Players! I had to go back and look it up and I think this is correct. (Ack, it was a LOT of posts to sort through, lol!) I started playing along with The Paper Players Challenges at Challenge #15. Then I was invited to be a Guest Designer in Challenge #23. I joined the Design Team with Challenge #37. I did take a wee hiatus in mid-2015 but was welcomed back with open arms a couple years later. I absolutely LOVE this fabulous team! I kind of feel like they were with me when I started my stamping journey and I am so incredibly blessed to have this wonderful group of women in my life today! 500 Challenges is truly awesome!

I had to chuckle when I saw that Challenge #500 was a Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge. I have to say that even though CAS is not my “thing”, this team has really helped me with this style and I have come to embrace it a lot more. I actually LIKE it! I’m not quite at the “one layer card” stage yet, but I am embracing the “less is more” design element.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details below, along with a full supply list at the end of this post.
For this card, I started with a Whisper White base. I NEVER do that! *GASP* The only “rule” I tend to stick to with Whisper White card bases is that they have to be the thick version of the cardstock. It’s just more sturdy and pretty much made to be a card base. The regular WW cardstock is too flimsy, in my opinion.

From there, I added a layer of color and then just decided to let the Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper be the star of the show to play off the sentiment. I went with a polka-dot-theme with the paper and the ribbon because I felt like it all worked together. You can never have TOO many polka dots, right? Best part about this card, it came together REALLY quickly and that is a win in my book! I hope you like it!
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Thick Whisper White Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Night of Navy Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”, emboss with Subtle Embossing Folder, spritz with a mixture of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (2-3 drops) mixed with rubbing alcohol (70% or less) in a Stampin’ Spritzer for added sparkle
  • Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper (white with polka dots) - 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”
  • Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper (Calypso Coral polka dots) - 3-1/2” x 2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - scrap to die cut a tag from the Stitched So Sweetly dies and stamp sentiment from So Sentimental in Night of Navy Ink
  • Whisper White Polka Dot Organza Ribbon and three rhinestones
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper (white with polka dots, inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - scrap to stamp sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays stamp set
Finally, a peek inside the card. I simply stamped a sentiment from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set, cut it out and popped it up on a Stampin’ Dimensional. I added a little pop of that DSP for some color and to keep the theme going from the front of the card.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our 500th Clean-and-Simple “Celebrate" Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 24th, 2020

  12. I'm not (or wasn't) a naturally CAS person but having got past the stamp something in the middle(Ish) and leave it stage it gt easier. Unlike you I do a lot of one layer using masking and colour to add depth. Congratulations on you and your teams 500 challenge here's to the next 500. x
