Fall Poppy Moments for PP508

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, I am excited to be hosting our Color Challenge.
Check it out and play along with us!
There is a little twist with this color trio for the challenge: pop in some Glitter OR Foil for a little added detail. I hope you will join us and play along this week.

I selected these colors because they really remind me of fall, which is my very favorite season. Although, living in South Texas it seems to be taking its sweet time making an arrival this year and it usually doesn’t last very long. We had one day last week where the temps were in the lower 60’s and I was SO excited. I pulled out the Pumpkin Pecan Waffles candles, opened the windows and baked some banana bread. The next day it was back up to the low 90’s again. Sigh…

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and supplies for this card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of the post.
Every year in the Stampin Up’ Mini Catalog, there is one big Halloween Suite that always has coordinating Designer Series Paper. The Magic in this Night DSP is pretty cool because it has some slightly spooky images like spiders, webs and bats but it also features little pops of florals and lace. The pattern I used on my card is one of my favorites in the pack but I did NOT want to make a Halloween card for this challenge. I wanted to pair it up with something different and decided that the Poppy Moments Dies kind of “worked” with the paper, so that’s what I decided to use. I added in a couple Copper Foil accents with the leaves and the center of the flower and I almost used Black Glitter Paper on the flower but it felt like TOO much glitter (I can’t believe I just typed that…gasp!) so instead I just spritzed some shimmer spray made with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol. It’s more of a “subtle sparkle”. The simple sentiment is from the Life is Beautiful stamp set

For some added detail on the Crumb Cake Cardstock, I added some texture using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and felt like it needed “just a little more”, so I used the textured image in the Painted Poppies stamp set to add some “splotchy” accents. I stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed the images using Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Guess what? Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder is now retired, however that is not something that would be hard to track down in a craft store if you need it.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Pretty Peacock Card Base - 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”
  • Cajun Craze Cardstock - 4” x 5 1/4”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock - 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”, emboss using Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, sponge edges with Crumb Cake ink and then stamp the textured image from the Painted Poppies stamp set and heat emboss in copper
  • Pretty Peacock Cardstock - 3 3/8” x 4 5/8”
  • Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper - 3 1/4” x 4 1/2”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock - 2” x 3/4”, stamp sentiment from Life is Beautiful stamp set in Momento Ink, cut a banner on right side using Banner Triple Punch and sponge Crumb cake ink around edges
  • Pretty Peacock Cardstock - scrap to die cut three of the larger leafy branches from the Poppy Moments Dies (two for the front and one for the inside of the card)
  • Copper Foil Paper - scrap to die cut two of the smaller leafy branches and one flower “center” from the Poppy Moments Dies
  • Cajun Craze Cardstock  - scrap to die cut one solid flower from the Poppy Moments Dies, then embossing using the Subtle 3D Embossing folder for added texture
  • Basic Black Cardstock - scrap to die cut flower “outline” from Poppy Moments Dies, spritz with mixture of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol (70% or less) to add some sparkle
  • Add a bow and three Champagne Rhinestones
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock  (inside card) - 4” x 5 1/4”
  • Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 3/4” x 5 1/4”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I added a coordinating sentiment along with a strip of Designer Series Paper. I had a leftover leaf die, so I just added it to the bottom corner.
