Special Someone for PP511

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Claire is hosting our Theme Challenge.
The temperature is finally out of the triple digits here in South Texas, and it’s starting to feel a little more like Fall. I’m sure that makes all of the little critters a lot happier, too. When I saw the challenge this week, I pulled out two different stamp sets and ultimately the Special Someone stamp set won out simply because that little raccoon wins me over every time with his sweet little face.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below, along with a full supply list at the very end of this post.
The Special Day Dies coordinate perfectly with the stamp set and I especially love the little balloons and the “speech bubble”. I mean, how do you make a raccoon MORE fun? Give him a balloon and make him talk. Haha!

I stamped the outline of the raccoon first in Momento ink and then stamped his “fur” in Smoky Slate. I love that the stamps are designed to do the coloring for you and since they are photopolymer, it’s easy to line up the images. I used the Stampin’ Blends to add some color to the grass and then added a little shadow around the raccoon to make him pop a bit more.

I can’t seem to stop using the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper right now. The patterns are so perfect for SO many occasions. Plus it is and extra 15% off right now, so that makes it even better. Since this was a “Fall Critters” challenge, I popped in a couple of leaves to accent the main image along with some wood texture on the background.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Misty Moonlight Card Base: 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”
  • Poppy Parade Cardstock - 4” x 5 1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”, embossed with Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder
  • Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper - 2 3/4” x 5 1/8”

  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock - die cut one of the medium leaves from the Gathered Leaves Dies
  • Whisper White Cardstock - die cut a 3 1/4” oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies and also stamp and die cut the balloon and speech bubble from the Special Day Dies
  • Add Wink of Stella to the stamped balloon for added sparkle, if desired
  • Linen Thread and three wood accents from the In Good Taste Elements - adhere with tiny dots of liquid glue
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5 1/4”
  • Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 7/8” x 5 1/4"
Finally, a peek inside the card. I added a “Happy Birthday” sentiment (which is slightly crooked - haha) along with a little strip of the plaid DSP. Plus that little mouse just makes me smile. He pairs up well with his raccoon friend on the front of the card.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Theme Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday October 9th, 2020

  2. This is a beautiful card, Anne Marie! I love the woodgrain background, and plaid paper, that inspired your beautiful colour choices. The leaves are a great touch ( love them in those colours!), and of course the sweet raccoon is adorable.
