Sweet Ice Cream for PP530

Happy Sunday!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always fabulous Ann is hosting our monthly Sketch Challenge.
It’s so great to be back after a taking last week off from The Paper Players. We had a crazy winter storm here in Texas starting February 14th that brought snow, freezing temps along with lengthy power and water outages. We lost power for about 4 days and everything was a still a bit unsettled last weekend. I’m mostly caught up and things are finally back to “normal” here again, although I’m worried many of the trees in our yard will not bounce back. :(
I’ve mentioned before that Sketch Challenges are my FAVORITE! To get started, I look at the layout then I look through my stamp sets and one or two usually jump out at me. I needed a birthday card and the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and coordinating Ice Cream Builder Punch were perfect for this sketch! Why not "Treat Yourself” to a triple scoop to celebrate your special day, right?

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
I really wanted to add some extra pattern to the card to play off the sprinkles on the ice cream. (Side Note: I REALLY wish we had a polka dot embossing folder.) Then I remembered the Pattern Party Decorative Masks! They are essentially stencils that add a fun pop of pattern using ink, embossing paste and even shimmer paint. I need to remember to use them more often! There are four different patterns in this set and my favorite has to be these playful polka dots. I used one of the new Blending Brushes to add some ink and then embossed the cardstock for a little pop of texture.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Pool Party Cardstock - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Blackberry Bliss Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Petal Pink Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, add polka dots using Blending Brushes / Petal Pink ink and emboss using Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Ice Cream Shop Designer Series Paper - 3” x 4-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock - scraps for stamping and punching ice cream cone and scoops
  • Ice Cream Scoop Colors: Purple Posy scoop / Blackberry Bliss sprinkles, Pool Party scoop / Bermuda Bay sprinkles and Petal Pink scoop / Terracotta Tile sprinkles (Note: if you don’t have Purple Posy ink (as it is currently unavailable) - use either a Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker or Highland Heather ink stamped-off once as an alternative)
  • Ice Cream Cones - stamp solid image in Cinnamon Cider Ink stamped-off once, then stamp the waffle cone detail in Cinnamon Cider Ink full-strength
  • Basic White Cardstock - scrap to stamp sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink and die cut using frame from Hippo & Friends Dies
  • Pool Party Sheer Ribbon and Champagne Rhinestones
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiments in Blackberry Bliss ink
  • Ice Cream Shop Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 4” x 1/2”
Finally a peek inside the card! I simply added another strip of DSP and stamped some fun polka dots and a coordinating sentiment. I love, love, LOVE the font in this stamp set. Such a fun and happy card to celebrate a birthday!

Product List

  1. As always, a wonderful mix of colors, patterns, and texture, Anne Marie! Your stenciled tone-on-tone polka dots are amazing. Of course, the champagne bling is the perfect accent. Thank you for creating this "yummy" card for my sketch challenge this week!

  2. The polka dots, the stripes, the triple scoops... they all add up to a whole lot of cute!

  3. So glad to hear that you are almost back to normal after your trying week of no power! Your ice cream card is adorable and the only kind of 'cold' that you should have to deal with for a long while! I might need to get some stencils too; I'm always wishing for a polka dot embossing folder too! Have a great week!

  4. I am glad life has resumed to mostly normal now and that wicked weather is behind you! As for your ice cream card...It is super cute! I literally have ice cream at least 6 times a week. I love it more than anything else! LOL So this card really speaks to me, and a waffle cone for sure! Have a great week!

  5. Such cuteness!! Plus it looks so good it makes me hungry too!

  6. LOL, I saw your card and thought "Where is that cute DSP from?" I love that you created it yourself! These treats are DELICIOUS-looking! And I wish we had a polka-dot EF too...I will never get rid of my old ones!

  7. Love this yummy card and the fabulous patterned papers and colors you used to create it!

  8. So glad you are getting back to normal and to your stamping. What a great treat this card is. Such fun colors and perfect "stenciling". I will definitely have to try that since I haven't used mine as masks yet. :) Enjoy the rest of your week.

  9. Such a yummy take on Ann's sketch Anne Marie! Your triple-scoop icecream looks good enough to eat!
