Whimsical Trees for PP551

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the fabulous Ann is hosting our monthly Sketch Challenge.
If you have ever visited me before, you know that sketch challenges are my favorite! As soon as I saw this one, I was immediately inspired to create. I actually made another card with this same sketch that I will be sharing on my Facebook Live Video which I will be doing at 4:00pm CST later on today. You can find me over on Facebook HERE and please follow my page while you are there. :) *To check out the video for the second card I created, click here: Counting Sheep “Sneak Peek” Facebook Live.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
My card features a sneak peek of a few brand new products which will be coming out on August 3rd in the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog. The new Whimsical Trees stamp set and coordinating Christmas Trees Dies caught my eye immediately in the new catalog and were first on my list. The entire suite of products is so fun and I love the non-traditional color combo of pinks, greens and blues.

The Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper in this suite is AMAZING, too. I used one of the sheets to die cut the tress on this card. On one side of the papers there is gorgeous foil detail and the opposite side features smaller patterns which coordinate beautifully. The pop of iridescent foil adds so much detail! This paper is going to be one of my favorites for sure, so get ready to see a lot of it. I kept the card pretty monochromatic using Mint Macaron and added in some extra pops of texture for some added detail. I love how this card came out and I hope you do as well.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Mint Macaron Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”, embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder
  • Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper (available 8/3): 3-3/4” x 1” (2 pieces) and 3-1/2” x 1” (1 piece)
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2-3/4” x 4-1/2”, embossed using the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder
  • Mint Macaron Cardstock: 2-3/4” x 1”, brush with Wink of Stella for sparkly detail
  • Mint Macaron Cardstock: scrap to die cut trees and stars using the Christmas Trees Dies (available 8/3)
  • Cut three of the tress from the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP using the Christmas Tree Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp sentiment in Mint Macaron ink and die cut using the Ornate Frames Dies
  • Color Basic White Crinkles Seam Binding using Light Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends
  • Add wink of Stella to the die cut stars for added detail
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper: 1/4” x 5-1/4”
Finally, a peek inside the card! I stamped the coordinating sentiment from the Whimsical Trees stamp set along with another little tree. Then I added a little strip of the DSP to “ground” the tree. I’m looking forward to making a few more of these cards to send out to friends and family this year for Christmas, too.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our  Sketch Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with using this fun sketch. You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 30th, 2021
