In Symmetry for PP563

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, our very own “Queen of Clean” Jaydee is hosting our Clean-and-Simple Challenge.
I don’t know about you, but I always need more Birthday Cards in my crafty stash, so I couldn’t wait to create for this challenge. The real challenge though was to make the card Clean-and-Simple. Haha! One of my favorite bundles in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog is the In Symmetry stamp set and Symmetrical Leaves Border Punch. I just love the bold floral images and the sentiments in the set are perfect for so many occasions. I love that “Best Day Ever” sentiment and I think it’s a great fit for a birthday card, don’t you?

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:

Clean-and-Simple (CAS) cards are such a struggle for me but I have to admit, I think I’m getting better at creating them. I have to fight the urge to add just one (or three) more layers. But there really is beauty in simplicity. The little details really stand out on CAS cards and as an added bonus, they are generally much easier to mail.
I loved the simplicity of this card so much, I decided to make a few more using some of the other beautiful  patterns in the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper. One of my goals this year is to use more DSP. I tend to hoard, I mean collect the beautiful designs. With patterns this pretty, they deserve to be shared.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Calypso Coral Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 5-5/16” x 4-1/16”, use the largest die in the Stitched with Whimsy Dies to add the border
  • Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper: 3-3/4” x 2-1/2”
  • Just Jade Cardstock: scraps to punch out three leaves from the Symmetrical Stems Border Punch
  • Emboss the punched leaves using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder.
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp and fussy-cut the floral image in Bumblebee ink
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-3/4” x 7/8”, stamp sentiment in Calypso Coral ink and banner punch the right side using the Tailored Tag Punch.
  • Add one rhinestone to the flower
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 5-1/4” x 4", stamp sentiment in Calypso Coral ink and flowers in Bumblebee ink
  • Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper (inside card): 1” x 4”
Finally, a peek inside the card! I added strip of DSP from the front of the card along with a stamped Happy Birthday sentiment. The sentiment is from the Artistically Inked stamp set, I forgot to list it in the product list below. I also stamped a fun trio of little flowers with an image from the In Symmetry stamp set. These cards were quick and easy to create and I have a bunch ready to mail out for upcoming birthdays.

  3. Anne Marie you are right about two things... 1. CAS cards are MUCH easier to mail and 2. You really are getting them down!!! I love how the DSP is the major star of your card and all that white space allows your eye to settle on the focal images and appreciate them. I also love the bright colors! Fab card
