Sparkle of the Season for PP567

Happy Sunday, friends…and guess what?
It’s also my BIRTHDAY today! :)
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Joanne is hosting our monthly Color Challenge.
This is such a fun color combo…although it really doesn’t have much “color” does it? I don’t think you can ever go wrong with classic black and white. The grey and silver add some neutral elegance which I really like. I decided to make a classic Christmas card using the Wonderful Snowflakes which are featured in the August - December Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog. These snowflake images have a shiny iridescent finish on one side and are plain white on the other, which makes them even more versatile if you would like to change up the color. The best part is, they are already pre-cut and ready to pop on your project. You can’t get much easier than that!

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
When it comes to black and white patterns, the Pattern Party Host Designer Series Paper is my go-to. In this pack of paper, one side features black and white patterns and the other side features bright and cheery colors. There are also 48 sheets of 12” x 12” DSP in this pack, so there is a LOT of paper to work with. (Note: The Pattern Party DSP is a "Host Exclusive”, which means it can only be ordered when your order is at least $150)

I decided I wanted just a little pop of silver so I went with the Subtle Shimmer Sequins as an accent. But I wanted “just a little more” (the famous words of any crafter, right?) silver for a little more pop. I don’t have any silver foil that is current in the Stampin’ Up!® catalogs…so I just made my own! I took my Versamark ink pad and pressed it directly onto the edges of the 3” x 3” Basic White Cardstock layer. Then I heat embossed the edges using silver embossing powder and the heat tool. There you have it, DIY foil paper!
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Smoky Slate Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4"
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 5-1/4” x 4"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (host exclusive): 5-1/8” x 1-1/8”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3” x 3”, add Versamark ink around the edges of the cardstock and heat emboss with silver embossing powder for metallic detail
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (host exclusive): 2-3/4” x 2-3/4”
  • Wonderful Snowflake
  • Smoky Slate Cardstock: 3-1/2” x 1/2” stamp sentiment from the Sparkle of the Season stamp set in Versamark ink, heat emboss with black embossing powder and banner punch ends using the Tailored Tag Punch
  • Subtle Shimmer Sequins: adhere using liquid glue
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4", stamp sentiment and snowflakes in Momento ink
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (inside card): 3/4” x 4"
Finally, a peek inside the card! I stamped a coordinating sentiment and added a little strip of the buffalo check DSP. The little trio of stamped snowflakes kept the theme going from the front of the card. Hooray for another Christmas card completed and ready to send!
