Artistically Inked for PP583

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, our lovely Laurie is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
Today is the First Day of Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere, so the “BLOOMS” theme is perfectly timed for this challenge! I just love this time of year, when all of the plants in the yard start to grow and blossom. Last night, we saw the return of our little hummingbirds, too! The weather has been beautiful here this past week, so I finally feel like Spring has finally sprung.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Clean-and-Simple cards are always a bit of a challenge for me…but I’m getting better. Sometimes less is definitely more on a card, especially when it comes to mailing! As I was searching through my stamps to try to decide what to use for this challenge, I decided on the Artistically Inked stamp set and coordinating Artistic Dies. I just love that beautifully detailed floral focal image.

I decided to die cut the image from the gorgeous Rainbow Glimmer Paper for some added sparkle. This paper is seriously one of my favorites. I just love how the rainbow colors just flow together. I initially was going to do the card in pink (shocking, I know) but really liked how the blues, greens and purples looked with the flowers. I tried adding some texture to the background initially with an embossing folder but it felt like it was too busy. So, I added a little stitched frame using the Stitched with Whimsy Dies. I heat embossed the sentiment to make it pop and added two little rhinestones as a finishing touch.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Coastal Cabana Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, die cut the stitched frame with the second largest Stitched with Whimsy Die
  • Rainbow Glimmer Paper: die cut the floral image from the Artistic Dies (Tip: use an Adhesive Sheet on the back of the paper before die-cutting to make it easier to stick tot he card front)
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 3/8”, heat emboss the sentiment using white embossing powder
  • Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels (while supplies last)
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment in Momento ink
  • Rainbow Glimmer Paper (inside card): 4” x 1/2”
Finally, here is look inside the card. I stamped a coordinating sentiment from the Artistically Inked stamp set and a strip of the Rainbow Glimmer paper to bring all the colors from the front inside the card. Simple, yet so beautiful!

I'm excited I finally bought the Stitched with Whimsy dies and can't wait to have them in my hot little hands :) Love how the black sentiment panel across the front makes all the beautiful colors pop on the floral die cut.
