Lighting the Way for PP632

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always fabulous Ann is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
This is such an appropriately timed challenge down here in south Texas. Everything has started to bloom in our yard and it just makes me so happy! Although, we did some colder, rainy weather to start the weekend, so I’m hoping those blooms survive whilst checking on them through the window from the comfort of the warmth inside the house. I’m a native New Yorker and I am so embarrassed that 45 degree temps make me hide inside under a blanket here. I guess I’ve acclimated. Haha!

I sure hope you will get crafty and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create with this CAS theme!

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
I decided to use the Lighting the Way stamp set and coordinating dies that I just recently ordered from the Stampin’ Up!® Mini Catalog. I just love all of the pretty greenery in this set.

I guess maybe if we are getting “technical”, fireflies might be a little closer to the summer season…but that will be here in approximately 20 days with this crazy Texas weather, so I think I am ahead of the curve. 45 degrees today and 83 degrees next Saturday…yes, it’s how we roll down here.

I kept the colors muted in a combo of greens…and stamped the fireflies in a neutral gray. My favorite part are the sparkly Champagne Rhinestones adorning their little bitty bums. I also added some Wink of Stella to the stamped firefly images which adds cool shimmer in-person.

The Stitched with Whimsy border adds extra whimsical detail. I don’t *technically* count that layer as it's the same color as the card base. It WAS supposed to be the same measurement as the card front, but my nonsense got in the way and chopped it down ever so slightly. I’m sure my Paper Player friends are laughing a bit because CAS is such an epic struggle for me every month. I’ve made decent progress but I’m a long way from a one-layer card. Haha!
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Soft Sea Foam Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, score at 5-1/2”
  • Soft Sea Foam Cardstock: 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”, emboss using the largest frame in the Stitched With Whimsy Dies
  • Evening Evergreen Cardstock: 3-1/8” x 4-3/8”
