Hello Ladybug for PP654

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Ann is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.

I just love the theme for this week’s challenge and it was fun to search through my stamps to see what kinds of insects I could find. I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared measurements and a full supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

Color Combo:
As I was perusing my stamps, I realized I haven’t used the Hello Ladybug stamp set in a while. It’s one of my favorites and I especially love that it coordinates with the Ladybug Builder Punch. I decided to turn the ladybug into a little bee which was super-easy with a few 1/4” strips of Daffodil Delight Cardstock, a little Basic Black scrap to cut-out a “stinger” and some delicate Vellum wings. Of course, I couldn’t miss an opportunity to add some sparkle, so I popped some Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems on the little antennas for a tiny bit of flair.

The Stitched With Whimsy Dies were the perfect way to add some texture but still keep the card Clean-and-Simple. I just love that little bit of extra detail. I wanted to add a little pattern just to bring everything together and the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper was perfect. One side of the paper has adorable critters and the other has whimsical black & white patterns. It’s really versatile and I reach for that paper pack a LOT!

Card Measurements and Details:
  • Daffodil Delight Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 5”  x 3-3/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4-7/8” x 3-5/8”, die-cut frame with Stitched with Whimsy Dies
  • Zoo Crew Series Paper: 2-1/2" x 1/2”, punch right side with Banners Pick a Punch
  • Zoo Crew Series Paper: 2-1/2" x 3/4”, punch right side with Banners Pick a Punch
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die-cut third smallest circle from Stylish Shapes Dies
  • Vellum Cardstock: scrap to punch bee wings with Ladybug Builder Punch
  • Basic Black Cardstock: scrap to punch bee body with Ladybug Builder Punch and another little scrap to fussy-cut a small triangle for the bee’s “stinger"
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock: (3) 1/4” wide strips to add to bee body
  • Adhesive-Backed sparkle Gems and Black & White Gingham Ribbon
  • Basic White Cardstock (card interior): 5-1/4” x 4”, stamp flowers in Daffodil Delight ink and sentiment in Memento ink
  • Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper (card Interior): 3/4” x 4”

Finally, a peek inside the card. I added a coordinating strip of Designer Series Paper and some stamped flowers for the little bee to snack on. I thought the “You can BUG me anytime” sentiment fit perfectly with the theme of the challenge this week, too. Such a fun card to pop in the mail to brighten a friend’s day!

  1. Anne Marie, I love your cute little bee. The vellum wings add a special touch. The strips od DSP really let the bee stand out. Suzy

  2. I made a bee with this punch just this past week too (but not for our challenge!) I think they are so cute - I love that you paired yours with the whimsy stitched border that looks like a flight path and the fun black and white papers too. Fabulous Anne Marie!
