December 2021 - Stamping Sunday Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends! Today, I’m super-excited to share the December 2021 Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This hop is hosted by Sara Levin and we share on the second Sunday of every month. Our theme for the month is “Get Sketchy” and Sara has an AWESOME sketch for us.
If you have visited me before you might know that sketch challenges are my most favorite! Our challenge for the blog hop this month was to create TWO cards using this sketch and I decided create with “something old and something new”. I guess the first card isn’t really old, but it is one of the last chances to get some of the supplies before they officially retire at the end of the year. My second card is a little preview of some new products that will be available starting January 4, 2022. I’m calling my card duo for the hop “Santa and a Ladybug”, which will make more sense in a minute. :)

All of the measurements for my project are listed below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this blog post.
My first card features one of my favorite stamp sets for the Christmas season: Be Jolly. I still have a few holiday cards to make and this set was perfect. I refer to this little guy as “Jazz Hands Santa” because I just love his enthusiasm. He pairs perfectly with the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper which just recently sold out. (Boo, I know.) There are lots of papers that could be used in its place though. I also layered in a Whimsical Snowflake on one of the circles for an added layer. It’s a little tough to see in the photos, but I brushed on some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush on the trim of Santa’s hat and jacket for some added detail.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Real Red Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Pear Pizzazz Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, emboss using Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp Santa image in Momento ink, color with Stampin’ Blends and die cut using the 2-7/8” circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper: Die cut a 2” circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Whimsical Snowflakes: cut one snowflake in half and adhere to DSP circle
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2-1/2” x 1-7/16”, stamp sentiment and banner punch left side with Tailored Tag Punch
  • Black Shimmer Paper (now retired): 2-3/4” x 1-5/16”, banner punch left side with Tailored Tag Punch
  • Real Red Sheer Ribbon and Silver Epoxy Essentials
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment and star in Momento ink and color star with Stampin’ Blends
  • Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (inside card): 3/4” x 5-1/4”
Here is a peek inside the card. I added a coordinating sentiment and strip of DSP along with a little stamped star. Easy, peasy and keeps the “party going” from the front of the card.
My second card with this sketch features a little sneak peek of some new products that will be available starting January 4, 2022 in the Stampin’ Up!® January - June Mini Catalog, the Hello Ladybug stamp set, the Ladybug Builder Punch and the Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels. I also used the new Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper on this card. This bright and cheery DSP can be earned for FREE with a qualifying order starting January 4, 2022 during Sale-A-Bration. This paper is SO much fun! You will be seeing it a lot here in the coming months, that’s for sure.
I added another subtle “layer” to the background using the Stitched with Whimsy Dies on the DSP. I wanted it to almost look like the little ladybug’s flight pattern and I also layered scalloped circle behind the DSP to resemble a flower. That’s what I was going for, I hope it makes a little sense anyway. Of course, I also added some Wink of Stella to the ladybug body and the spots on her wings. You can never have too much sparkle, right?
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Flirty Flamingo Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration, coming 1/4/22): 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, die cut the stitched detail with the Stitched With Whimsy Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die cut a 2-1/8” circle from the Layering Circles Dies, emboss polka dots using the Checks & Dots Embossing Folder
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap die cut a 2-1/4” scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper: Die cut a 2-1/8” circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp ladybug and wings, punch-out using Ladybug Builder Punch (Available 1/4/22)
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock: scrap to die cut “Hello” from Playful Alphabet Dies
  • White Glitter Organdy Ribbon and Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Available 1/4/22)
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment and ladybug in Momento ink and then stamp the ladybug back in Flirty Flamingo ink
  • Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper (inside card): 3/4” x 5-1/4”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I added another adorable ladybug image walking along a piece of the DSP along with a little stamped sentiment in the top right corner. I left some space for a handwritten note. I just think this is a fun and happy card and I hope you do as well. :)

I hope you enjoyed these projects today! Please continue along on the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop to check out more awesome creative inspiration.

Be Jolly for PP569

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, I am super-excited to be hosting our monthly Sketch Challenge.
I have said it before and I’ll say it again, I LOVE a good sketch challenge so I couldn’t wait to design the layout for this week. This sketch is one that lends itself nicely to showcasing different patterns of Designer Paper in the background which was what I wanted to focus on for my card. I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card this week so I decided to start by using the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper. This DSP features a fun mix of plaids, stripes and polka dots in traditional holiday colors and worked perfectly with the Be Jolly stamp set.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
The Be Jolly stamp set has quickly become one of my favorites for Christmas! The images in the set are so whimsical and can be colored easily which is an added bonus. I affectionately refer to this little guy as “jazz-hands Santa”. He’s so cute and that “Be Jolly” sentiment suits him perfectly!

It’s a little tough to see in the photos, but I accented the white areas on Santa’s hat and jacket with some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. It adds so much sparkly detail which is never a bad thing in my opinion.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Real Red Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2"
  • Pear Pizzazz Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (3 pieces): 1-13/16” x 5" (red/green plaid), 1-13/16” x 2-7/16" (green plaid), 1-13/16" x 2-7/16"(red stripes)
  • Real Red Cardstock: die cut the largest scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: stamp the Santa image in Momento ink, color using Stampin’ Blends and die cut using the larges circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp sentiment in Momento ink, trim around the edges and cut the sentiment into two pieces
  • White Glitter Organdy Ribbon
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels: colored using Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4"
  • Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (inside card): 7/8” x 5-1/4"
Finally, here is look inside the card. I simply added in a little strip of DSP, a coordinating sentiment and a cute little bird image to “keep the party going” from the front of the card. That tiny bird just makes me smile with his itty-bitty holiday hat!
On a quick personal note, I wanted to share a photo of our new foster pup with you today. This is Miss Jewel. She’s about 1-1/2 years old, weighs about 19 pounds and looks to be maybe a Whippet/Italian Greyhound mix. She has been with us for about a week now and is settling in nicely. She was rescued from a high-kill shelter in South Texas and is currently available for adoption through Tracy’s Paws Rescue. Isn’t she adorable?

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for my  Sketch ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday December 3rd, 2021
