Dynamic Duos #5 - Clean, Simple and Sassy!

Hi there! Wow, what a crazy week! I'm a little behind on the creative endeavors, I'm so sorry. I DO have my card for the new Dynamic Duos Challenge ready to go, though. It is the first week of the month and we are focusing on a Bold and Sassy Color combo that I just love: Real Red and Island Indigo.

I needed a card for a friend to simply tell her she was fantastic and found my inspiration from this week's Clean and Simple - Fall to Layout #193:
Ok, I know...I seem to love that butterfly die. I use it a LOT, huh? But it is really versatile and I love the dimension it adds to cards. I popped up my layered butterflies on some simple circle punches to make them stand out a wee bit more on the mix of new Summer Smooches DSP. Over all, this was a fairly easy card to put together. Sometimes, just using some pretty paper and a few dies and punches do the trick for a fun CAS card for a friend...who IS really awesome, by-the-way! :)
Thanks for stopping by to visit today! I sure hope you will join us this week over at Dynamic Duos. The challenge is open until 12:00 noon (PST) on Thursday, June 7th. Please stop by and visit the rest of the lovely ladies on the Design Team to see what they have created with these bold and sassy colors:

Have a Seat for Paper Players #84

Hello there! I know it has been a while since my last post. I'm not really sure how this past week got away from me, but somehow it did. *sigh* Here it is, Sunday (again) and time for another fun challenge over at the Paper Players! This week, LeAnne is our hostess with a fantastic sketch.
Who loves things in "3's"? *raising my hand in the air...and waving it like I just don't care!* LeAnne also loves crafty trio's and that is why her sketch is SO much fun to try. Although, I have to say that getting my mojo working for this one was a bit of a slow start. I'm trying this new thing where I am determined to actually USE the supplies I collect ok, stockpile. I have had the Have a Seat stamp set for...oh, I don't know...maybe a year now and have never inked it up. Shameful, right?

My card is an "odd shape"- 4- 1/4" x 6- 3-4", so I am just going to cheat and slip it in a 5" x 7" envelope to mail.
I also pulled out some Mocha Morning Specialty DSP which I haven't used since Christmas. I mistakenly stamped and embossed the chairs on River Rock card stock, instead of Crumb Cake (because I was too busy rocking out to some tunes in my stamp studio, while making this card). After I realized my mistake, I tried to camouflage my error by sponging the edges and giving it a healthy "spritzing" with a Crumb Cake marker using the Color Spritzer Tool. It almost looks like Crumb Cake, right? Maybe? Hey, I stamped those images straight on the first try, so I wasn't going to risk wasting them! That's a rare thing...haha! I also added one teeny, tiny, sparkly heart because it was perfect with the "miss you" sentiment.

Here is the inside of the card, ready for a handwritten note for my sweet friend:

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit today! I sure hope you will join us this week at the Paper Players and play along with LeAnne's fabby sketch. Please stop by and visit the rest of the Design Team and see what they have whipped up for some inspiration:

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #57: "So Into You"

Greetings to you on this terrific Tuesday! It's time for an all new, weekly challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments. This week we are using a fabulous color combo that can instantly put you in the mood for Spring! We really hope you will play along with us. Don't have these exact colors? No worries! We invite you to use the colors you do have, that come close to this trio. The important thing is to have some fun and share your creativity! :)
I decided to keep my design fairly simple to let this combo take center stage. All I could think of with this marvelous mix was the Spring season! What better way to celebrate that, then with a sweet, little songbird? I busted out my 2-Step Bird punch (that has been very neglected recently) and got to work. I focused on a mix of patterns, texture and dimension to pull it all together. The only stamping, on the front, was (ok, I just HAVE to say it) my single, *hand stamped sentiment*. Haha, pretty fitting for the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge, huh?
For the inside, I just kept the "Spring-Fling" theme going. I finally inked up my Sweet Summer stamp set and I have officially decided that I love it. How fun are those flowers? It is one of the sets from Sale-A-Bration that I earned for free. Don't forget, Sale-A-Bration is still going on for the entire month of March. Click HERE to view the catalog.
Well, that's all for today! Thanks so much for stopping by! Please leave me a comment, before you go, to say hello and to let me know what you think of my card today. Also, please join us over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week with YOUR beautiful, color creation. Have a very HAPPY day! :)

Awesome Aviary

Happy Monday and Happy November! I am starting out the first day of the month with a cold! Ahh-Choo! Hello, Alka-Seltzer Cold and Flu...we have become great friends today. Such a bummer, as I even had to cancel dinner plans with a friend tonight. :(  Between sneezes and sniffles this morning, I had to whip up a card to get in the mail today.

I used this sketch challenge from Pals Paper Arts:
Then mixed it up with this awesome color combo from The Color Dare (on time this week, phew!):
Color Dare #82
Daffodil Delight
Night of Navy
Old Olive

After making 30+ cards with the Aviary stamp set last month (for a swap), I was a wee bit burned-out on the cuteness of the set. I knew it wouldn't be long though before I wanted to bust out these little birds again. I think it's the chubby, little owl that makes me love this set so much.
The Word Window punched sentiment (from the FYI set) landed there completely on accident. I originally decided to stamp the sentiment directly on the white card stock and wouldn't you know it, I stamped it crooked. Grrr, I hate it when that happens! I decided NOT to give into my OCD tendencies and re-stamp the whole bird image again. I just went with a different approach. I ended up really liking the look of the sentiment embossed in white, so I will just pretend I meant to do it all along. But since I already shared it, the secret is out...whoops! I blame the cold meds. ;)

For some final touches I rounded all of the corners to play off the round bird-cages (and that chunky owl, HaHa!) I added a fun flower and some sparkle to keep things bright and happy. Then I thought it would be cute to bust the bird friends out of their cages on the inside. Hope you like it! :)
Stampin' Up! Supply List:
