In Bloom for PP553

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the fabulous Claire is hosting our monthly Color Challenge.
Color Challenges are so much fun! Sometimes when I see the color combo, I immediately know which stamp set I’m going to create with. I immediately grabbed a chicken stamp set and started to get busy with these colors. Wait a second...chickens?? You don’t see any chickens on this card, right? I tried three times to make the chickens “work” but I didn’t like my coloring on any of them. So, back to the coop they went and that’s how this card came to be using the In Bloom stamp set and coordinating Pierced Blooms Dies

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
I just love the Pierced Bloom dies! They are perfect to create SO many beautiful flowers and the dotted detail makes them extra fun. This card really came together easily because the flowers are the stars of the show. I added some embossed detail to the background and dusted the leaves and flower centers with some Wink of Stella for sparkly detail.

I also used a little pop of buffalo check pattern from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper. I may have mentioned it a million times before but this paper is AWESOME! Not only are the patterns super-versatile, it's a huge pack of paper, 48 sheets of 12x12 DSP. I reach for it all the time in my stamp studio. This paper is a “Host Exclusive” and can be purchased with a qualifying order of $150+.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Real Red Card Base: 4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, embossed using the polka dots from the Checks & Dots Embossing Folders
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (Host Exclusive): 1-5/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Basic White Cardstock: die cut 2-3/4” circle from Layering Circles Dies, stamp sentiment in Momento ink
  • Scraps of Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Cardstock to die cut flowers and leaves from the Pierced Blooms Dies, accent leaves and flower centers with Wink of Stella
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment in Momento ink
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (Host Exclusive): 4” x 1/2”
Finally, a peek inside the card! I stamped a coordinating birthday sentiment and added a little piece of that fabulous buffalo check DSP. I ended up cutting some smaller flowers because I wasn’t sure about the sizes I wanted to use on my card, which came in handy to pop inside the card.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our   Color Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with using this fun trio of bright colors. You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday August 13th, 2021

In Bloom for PP541

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, I am very excited to be hosting our monthly Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
I always think it’s funny that my friends over at The Paper Players even LET me host Clean-and-Simple week. They know how I struggle with it. I will say though, that over the years I’ve gotten a lot better at this style of card making and have really started to enjoy it. :)

For this challenge, I added in the theme of using “Polka Dots” on your CAS project. What do we mean by Clean-and-Simple?

MINIMAL LAYERS
LITTLE TO NO EMBELLISHMENTS
LOTS OF CLEAN WHITE SPACE

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
For my CAS Polka Dot project, I decided to use two of my favorite products, the In Bloom Bundle and the new Dots & Checks Embossing Folders. I can’t even tell you how much I have used the In Bloom Stamp set and coordinating Pierced Blooms Dies. If you don’t have this bundle, add it to your list. It’s so easy to make beautiful cards with all of the different flowers and that pierced detail really pops!

If you have ever visited me before, you know that I absolutely LOVE bright colors and rainbows! I used some cardstock scraps to make a rainbow border on my card front. This is a fantastic layout to use up some of those card scraps you probably have taking up space in your craft room too. So many possibilities with color combinations!
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Basic White THICK Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Two pieces EACH of Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Highland Heather Cardstock: 1-1/4” x 1/2”
  • One piece Gorgeous Grape Cardstock: 1-1/4” x 1/2”
  • Add the cardstock strips along the left side of the card base using liquid glue
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-1/4” x 5-1/2”, embossed using the polka dots from the Dots & Checks Embossing Folders
  • Adhere the embossed Basic White piece along the left side of the card base, slightly overlapping the colored cardstock strips
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to die cut the flowers and to stamp and die cut the sentiment using the In Bloom Bundle
  • Small scraps of Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay Cardstock to die cut the flower centers and leaves
  • Accent the flower centers with Wink of Stella for added sparkle
  • Three Rhinestone Basic Jewels
Normally I share a photo of the inside of the card, but I decided to leave this one blank to include a special handwritten note for the recipient. So instead, I’ll just share a photo of our adorable foster puppy, formerly known as Cassie. Her new family decided to rename her Frannie, so we are getting her used to that. She is such a happy dog, we are really enjoying our time with her.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Clean-and-Simple “Polka Dots" Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday May 21st 2021
