Yee-Haw for Paper Players #233

Hello there! After taking a week off for foot surgery (which went very well, by the way) I am back in creative action. This week at The Paper Players, the lovely Sandy Mathis is our challenge hostess bringing us a fun sketch to play along with. As soon as I saw it, I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it: a bright and cheery cowgirl card! That's was exactly what you were thinking when you saw the sketch too, wasn't it? Haha!! Clearly you can tell that I know nothing about being a cowgirl, except that your boots should be pink and sparkly. I do live in Texas though, so somehow I think that makes me more "legit". Maybe? Not exactly. :)
I used two of my favorite stamp sets on this card: Bootiful Occasions and Yee Haw. I have to totally be honest that I completely forgot about placement of the sentiment on the sketch until I had already created the card. I went back to look at the sketch and said "whoops". I added that little banner at the last minute and I really like how it pops. It's just a F-U-N card!

I absolutely in love the Adventure Bound DSP Stack from Stampin' Up! That "weathered wood" paper is awesome! I want to get like 100 more sheets of it. I also sponged a little but of Crumb Cake ink on the sparkly Silver Glimmer Paper to tone it down a little. Here is a fun fact. I have 13 packs of unopened Silver Glimmer Paper in my stamp studio. 13. That is not right. #sparklehoarder
Please join us over at The Paper Players! The challenge closes on Friday, February 27th, 2015 at Noon (PST). Stop by and say hello to the Design Team.

As I usually do, I am signing off with one of my favorite photos from the past week. This is my Oscar. We rescued him from the shelter after he was surrendered by his former owners who simply didn't want him anymore. Ugh! He is the most loving guy, although we are still working on teaching him manners. Have a fantastic day! Happy stamping! :)

Geometrical Birthday for Paper Players #189

Hello stamping friends! This week at the Paper Players, the always-awesome Nance is our hostess with a tic-tac-toe challenge. I love these challenges...so many options to get your creative mojo working. I went with the top line of the tic-tac-toe board, using a birthday theme with punches and twine.
The Geometrical stamp set was one we received at the Stampin' Up Leadership Conference back in January. I haven't really given this stamp set it's fair share of ink, so I really wanted to use it for this challenge.  It's a "happy" stamp set. I paired it up with the coordinating Kaleidoscope DSP and Triangle punch, which I was ridiculously excited to earn from the Leadership event. I got up in front of the crowd and shared one of my most embarrassing stamping stories. Eek! I'm not proud of that embarrassing story, but I do love this bight and cheery card.  I added some twine and rhinestones, because bling really makes EVERYTHING happier! :)
Please join us over at the Paper Players The challenge is open through Friday, April 4th, 2014 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Before I sign off, I just wanted to share one of my favorite photos of two special kitties. Benny (my 24 pound Maine Coon) isn't usually cuddly with the other cats. He prefers to stand alone and take the spotlight for himself. Recently, my little tripod "ginger kitty" Triple has become infatuated with his big brother and is always by his side. I love that Benny has taken to nurturing him. I almost fainted when I saw them cuddled up together.

Just Sayin' For Paper Players #184

Hello there! This week at the Paper Players, we have a fun sketch designed by Jaydee. There are a lot of possibilities for this layout. I know I will be using this one again, for sure.
For my card, I knew I wanted to use a trio of patterned paper for the banners...but that was easier said then done. Ha! I am the most indecisive person on the planet when it comes to paper selection. (If you have ever stamped with me, you KNOW this to be true.) I finally decided on the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack because I just LOVE this color combo. I also had some baker's twine in coordinating colors sitting on my desk, so that helped, too. ;)

I used the simple sentiment from Just Sayin' and cut it out with the coordinating Word Bubble Framelit Dies. I added a pop of Red Glimmer Paper behind it cut out with the Ovals Framelits Dies. It's more sparkly in real life, I promise. That paper always reminds me of Dorothy's ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz. See, now you are thinking it, too! There's no place like home...
Please join us over at the Paper Players The challenge is open through Friday, February 28th, 2014 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week. Have a great day!

Warmth and Wonder for Paper Players #159

Hello there! It's time for another fun challenge over at the Paper Players. This week, my buddy Ann Schach is our hostess and we are keeping it simple with a one layer card challenge. Oh, how I am challenged with one layer cards. I decided to take a different approach to a "layer" without adding to the front of the card. I just cut it out with a die cut oval! It might be sneaky, but it helped me fix some crooked stamping on my original card...that's how the idea with the die cut oval came about. :)
I wracked my brain and tried three different stamp sets on three different color combos before settling on this card. I just had a huge Stampin' Up order delivered on Friday and the Warmth and Wonder stamp set was calling my name. It is a Hostess Rewards set, so if you are interested in earning it, give me a shout to plan a party or stamping event.
Here is a close up of the embossed and bejewelled sentiment. Cherry Cobbler is such an awesome red. I love it for holiday cards. The sentiment and the "ornaments" on the tree are heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder for some added shine.  I added some bakers twine and bling for fun. Even though this card was tough to photograph, it WAS fairly east to create. All of the supplies used are listed at the end of the post.

On a quick side-note, Miss Violet (our foster pup) is actually still with us. She came down with a "puppy cold" and wasn't able to make the trip to Illinois last week. She will be here for another month, then she will join her new family in Seattle. She is such a sweetie!
