Harvest Hellos for PP504

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Claire is hosting our monthly Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
Check it out and play along with us!
I wasn’t really sure what to make for this project as I don’t have kiddos, so Back to School isn’t an occasion I usually create for. However, I do have a LOT of friends who are teachers, so I decided to make some cards for them for the new school year. Things are definitely different this year, as many schools are starting out the year with online “distance learning” and I just wanted to make a few cards to send out to let my friends know how much they are appreciated for all they do.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for this card below along with a full supply list at the very end of the post.

I immediately pulled out my Harvest Hellos stamp set and coordinating Apple Builder Punch because apples are perfect for teachers, right? Although, a good friend of mine is a kindergarten teacher and she always tells me that after 23 years of teaching apples kind of lose their novelty. Haha!

Novelty or not, this was what I had to use, so I went with it. This card came together really quickly thanks to the punch. I added a little pop of red buffalo check from the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper and a bit of woodgrain texture to the background. It’s Clean-and-Simple week, so I tried not to go TOO crazy with the embellishments. Of course those apples have some added Wink of Stella sparkle because…well, why NOT. I also popped on a Linen Thread bow and a trio of tiny rhinestones as the finishing touches.
 Card Measurements and Details:
  • Real Red Cardstock - 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4”
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock - 5 1/4” x 4”
  • Cinnamon Cider Cardstock - 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”, embossed using Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder
  • Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper - die cut the largest scalloped rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies
  • Real Red Cardstock - scrap to stamp two apples in Real Red ink and punch using Apple Builder Punch (add Wink of Stella for some sparkly detail)
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock - scrap to stamp two leaves in Granny Apple Green ink and punch using Apple Builder Punch
  • Cinnamon Cider Cardstock - scrap to stamp two apple “stems" in Cinnamon Cider ink and punch using Apple Builder Punch
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock - 2” x 1/2”, stamp sentiment in Cinnamon Cider ink
  • Linen Thread and Red Rhinestones
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock (inside card) - 5 1/4” x 4”
  • Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper (inside card)  - 3/4” x 4”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I added a little strip of the DSP along with a coordinating sentiment perfect for teachers. The little apple seed stamp is a really cute accent, don’t you think?

Picked for You for PP415

Good Sunday Morning! It’s time for another weekly challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, Joanne is hosting with a fun theme challenge: APPLE(S). It’s also CAS (Clean and Simple) Week, although I don’t know that I really nailed that part with my card. Admittedly, I do struggle with keeping layers to a minimum on my cards, but I think I did ok with a clean layout. I hope. ;)
When I saw the theme, the Picked for You stamp set immediately came to mind. I decided to make a teacher appreciation card. This is a fun set and the apple is stamped using 3 different stamps to create the textured look. I used Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam and Granny Apple Green inks to create the different variations of GREEN on the apple. It’s a little tough to see in the photo, but I also added some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush in a few places on the apple for some sparkle.
I used the Basket Weave Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for some texture and the Tropical Escape DSP gave a little pop of pattern. I originally wanted to go with a traditional red and green color combo for this card, but it seemed too obvious for the theme, so I replaced the red with Gorgeous Grape. There is something about the green and purple combo that I’m loving right now!

Because I need to add at least 6 layers to a CAS card, I created a little tag for the apple because it really needed something to “sit” on. I just used a simple piece of white cardstock along with the Tag Topper and Detailed Trio Punch to quickly create a little tag. It makes it so easy to quickly make a tag in any size.

Card Measurements:
  • Gorgeous Grape Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 3-3/4” x 5”
  • Gorgeous Grape Cardstock - 3-1/8” x 3-1/8”
  • Tropical Escape DSP - 3”x 3”
  • Banner - 1/2” x 2-3/4”
  • Tag - 2” x 3” (size before punches)

Finally, a quick shot of the inside of the card. I used a sentiment from the A Big Thank You set. There is also an itty-bitty heart in this set and I was able to get a pop of red in there after all.

Won’t you join us and share your project this week?
