A Sketch for Santa for PP411

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! This week over at The Paper Players, the lovely and talented Jaydee has a sketch challenge for us. I started out with a few different ideas for this sketch, but ended up creating a fun Christmas card using the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog. I’m trying to make fall projects, but clearly have Christmas on my mind right now.
I think there was something about the diagonal line in the sketch that made me gravitate toward this paper. The white stripes in the paper have an awesome “fuzzy” texture as well. That adds so much extra detail to the card. There is also some of that same detail on Santa's hat. I do love a lot of texture on a card.
That’s why I also decided to add some Glimmer Paper snowflakes.
Full disclosure: the Santa’s Signpost Framelits actually cut out the images on the DSP, so that makes it super easy to add a fun image to your cards. I didn’t actually stamp and color the image, but that’s ok. Even though this was a “shortcut” you never would have guessed with how long it took me to put this card together. The bow was an element I fiddled with entirely too long, but in the end, made it work. I think. Gah!

I do have to say that Poppy Parade and Pool Party are a really fun holiday color combo! I really like non-traditional colors and this just makes me happy, along with that little pop of Basic Black.
I DID color the little stack of presents on the inside of the card, so I didn’t entirely make this a “stamp-free” card. Ha! Thanks for a fabulous sketch challenge this week, Jaydee. I sure hope you will join us and play along.

You can link up your project through Friday September 28th, 2018 at Noon PST.

Ps: Just thought I would share a fun photo from our yard. The anoles are all over the place back there and I especially love when they are hanging out in the palm trees.
Those tiny little “hands” are so cute! :)

  3. Poppy Parade and Pool Party do go well together. I didn't realise that the paper had a texture too it - nice touch from SU and a good idea by you to exploit it. The snowflakes add to the total effect. It's such a cheerful card, Anne Marie, it's just delightful.
