Picked for You for PP415

Good Sunday Morning! It’s time for another weekly challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, Joanne is hosting with a fun theme challenge: APPLE(S). It’s also CAS (Clean and Simple) Week, although I don’t know that I really nailed that part with my card. Admittedly, I do struggle with keeping layers to a minimum on my cards, but I think I did ok with a clean layout. I hope. ;)
When I saw the theme, the Picked for You stamp set immediately came to mind. I decided to make a teacher appreciation card. This is a fun set and the apple is stamped using 3 different stamps to create the textured look. I used Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam and Granny Apple Green inks to create the different variations of GREEN on the apple. It’s a little tough to see in the photo, but I also added some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush in a few places on the apple for some sparkle.
I used the Basket Weave Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for some texture and the Tropical Escape DSP gave a little pop of pattern. I originally wanted to go with a traditional red and green color combo for this card, but it seemed too obvious for the theme, so I replaced the red with Gorgeous Grape. There is something about the green and purple combo that I’m loving right now!

Because I need to add at least 6 layers to a CAS card, I created a little tag for the apple because it really needed something to “sit” on. I just used a simple piece of white cardstock along with the Tag Topper and Detailed Trio Punch to quickly create a little tag. It makes it so easy to quickly make a tag in any size.

Card Measurements:
  • Gorgeous Grape Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 3-3/4” x 5”
  • Gorgeous Grape Cardstock - 3-1/8” x 3-1/8”
  • Tropical Escape DSP - 3”x 3”
  • Banner - 1/2” x 2-3/4”
  • Tag - 2” x 3” (size before punches)

Finally, a quick shot of the inside of the card. I used a sentiment from the A Big Thank You set. There is also an itty-bitty heart in this set and I was able to get a pop of red in there after all.

Won’t you join us and share your project this week?
You can link up your project through Friday October 26th, 2018 at Noon PST.
