Making Christmas Bright for PP422

Hello and Happy Sunday to you! I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. This week over at The Paper Players, the lovely and talented Joanne has a festive Color Challenge for us:
It’s hard NOT to make a holiday card with these colors, not to mention time is running out to get those Christmas cards in the mail. I wanted to add a fun pop of color to the mix and decided on Pineapple Punch as my third color. The making Christmas Bright stamp set seemed like a perfect choice to showcase the colors. I just love that this set has a coordinating punch!
First, I stamped and punched the bulbs, then punched out the bulb bases in Silver Foil paper for some shimmer and shine. I stamped the “cord” and then lined them up, adding Stampin Dimensionals to make them stand out a bit more. Originally, I had just stamped the “May your Christmas Be” sentiment directly on the cardstock but it felt like it wasn’t getting enough attention that way. So I popped it up on a Layering Oval and added a little 1/2” banner behind it . I also colored the banner with Clear Wink of Stella for a little touch of sparkle.

Than, I stamped the hanging stars from the set in Pineapple Punch and Shaded Spruce to frame the main image. I used my Real Red Stampin’ Blends Marker to color in the stars and then finished them off with a touch of Clear Wink of Stella. I then added a little piece of the All is Bright DSP to keep the star pattern going and then added a simple red bow. It looks like a lot of work but it really came together quickly, once I decided on the layout. It’s just a cheerful little card, isn’t it?

Card Measurements:

  • Real Red Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4"
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • All is Bright DSP 1” x 5-1/8”
  • Real Red Cardstock - 2-3/4” x 3-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 2-1/2” x 3-1/4”

Finally, a peek inside the inside of the card, using a 1” x 4” strip of DSP along with more of the stamps from the set.

Won’t you join us and share your project this week?
You can link up your project through Friday December 14th, 2018 at Noon PST.

  2. AM, the addition of the yellow really does brighten up the colors. Your Christmas lights are vintage in shape, but so modern in execution. I really love the layout, too.

  8. Pineapple Punch is a great third colour to use with the vibrant pair we started with. This set, which I did not get, has taunted me all season each time I see someone use it so well - stamp envy! You have taught me much about layering. I love your style and have admired it from afar for a while. Thank you.

  9. Love the addition of the bright yellow as the third colour Anne Marie - it gives your festive card real zing! I might have to case this card - this is a set where I’ve used the sentiments lots but the bulbs - not so much. Love your layout and inside decoration too!
