Little Elephant for Kylie’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to Kylie’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop for February! We are a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from all over the world sharing our love of stamping. We are all part of Kylie Bertucci’s training group where we are having a great time learning and growing our Stampin’ Up!® businesses. If this is the first time you are visiting my blog, welcome! My name is Anne Marie Hile and I live in the United States. I’m so glad you stopped by today!

My card features a pairing of the Little Elephant Bundle from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog and the Well Said Bundle from the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Catalog. I can’t seem to stop using the Well Said stamps and coordinating Well Written Framelits lately. They are so perfect for every occasion!
Once I decided on the stamp sets to use, I went right to the black and white gingham paper from the Botanical Butterflies DSP. The best part of this DSP is that you can earn it for FREE during Sale-A-Bration. More about that at the end of the post. I decided to pair the black and white with Coastal Cabana for a bright and cheery vibe. Coastal Cabana is one of those colors that just makes me happy and I just love how it “pops” on this card. I do have a list of all of the products used to make my card at the end of this post, as well.

That stitched scalloped trim behind the DSP is from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies, which was a set I wasn’t sure I was going to purchase, but have used SO much. Funny how that happens sometimes.
This card does have quite a few layers. If you have visited me before, it’s probably not a surprise that I do like to make a card with a little (ok, a LOT of) bulk to it. However, you could easily remove a few of the layers to make it easier to mail and it would still look pretty fantastic. I made a modified version later on in this post.

Card Measurements:
  • Coastal Cabana Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Basic Black Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Botanical Butterfly DSP - 1-5/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Basic Black Cardstock - 3” x 3”
  • Coastal Cabana Cardstock - 2-7/8” x 2-7/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 2-3/4” x 2-3/4”

The elephant is heat embossed in Black Stampjn’ Emboss Powder for a little extra detail. The coordinating punch does not cut out the balloons, so those had to be “fussy cut.” I always think fussy cutting is going to be really tedious, until I do it. It really is NOT that bad once you get going. However, it’s always a good idea to cut leaving a little “border” around your image though. This way, if your cut isn’t perfect, it fools your eye into thinking that it is and you look like a fussy cutting expert. Whoot!
Here is a quick look at the inside of the card, using a 4” x 5-1-4” piece of Whisper White cardstock, a 1-1/4” x 4” pice of DSP and some extra ribbon because I accidentally smudged a little ink on the cardstock behind it. Oops! There are no mistakes in stamping, just opportunities to add more embellishments.

I had so much fun making this card, that I decided to modify it a little bit and create 11 more for one of my cards for our team swaps for the month. We have a birthday theme this month, so they will work out perfectly. I’ll share my other swap card with you later this week.
Thank you so much for stopping by our blog hop today! Leave me a message to say hello and to let me know you visited today.
