Amazing Life for PP432 and FF0029

Hello stampers! It’s Sunday and that means it’s time for another weekly challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, the lovely and talented Claire has a super-FUN color challenge for us: Colors of the RAINBOW
It’s no secret that I am drawn to bright and happy colors, so I was really excited for this week. I went with the Amazing Life stamp set for my card because I had planned on coloring in the letters and the banner with Stampin’ Blends. Don’t you just love a big, bold sentiment stamp? I also love that this set coordinated with the fabulous Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies. You can also purchase them both together in a bundle to save a little money, which is always a good thing.
Here are the Stampin’ Up!® colors I used to create my rainbow:

I’m also going to share my card with the Festive Friday Challenge because I was inspired by their Spring theme challenge his week. When I think of Spring, flowers and rainbows definitely come to mind.
Once I decided on my stamp set, I decided to keep the rest of the card a simple black and white, so that those happy colors really popped. I used the polka dot paper from the Botanical Butterfly DSP which you can earn for FREE with your qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration

Then, I dipped into my scrap cardstock and cut 1/4” inch strips of the six colors to dress up the background a bit. I just lined the strips up and then added a little pop of Silver Glimmer Paper on either end. I cut my strips of scraps at 1/4” to about 4-3/4”, lined them up and added some regular ol’ Scotch Tape to the back to hold them together. It makes it easer to add it as one piece at an angle to the DSP instead of trying to stick all of the strips down individually on the DSP. After it was stuck down, I snipped off the pieces that were hanging off the edges of the DSP. Easy peasy and a great way to use up some scrap cardstock!
For the sentiment, I really wanted to make sure it "packed a punch" with detail, so I heat embossed the stamped image using VersaMark ink and Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. After coloring in the letters and banner with Stampin’ Blends, I went over them with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. It’s REALLY shiny and sparkly in-person.

I did feel like the sentiment, although detailed, needed a little something else to add more color, so I added trio of flowers using another stamp in the Amazing Life stamp set. The little flowers were “fussy cut” and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. When you are cutting out images by hand, it’s always a good idea to leave a little bit of a border around them as opposed to cutting right on the image. It tricks the eye a bit, so even if your cutting isn’t perfect (and mine isn’t), it is less noticeable.

Card: Measurements:
  • Basic Black Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Pineapple Punch Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Botanical Butterfly DSP - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Sentiment and Frame - cut using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies
  • “Rainbow” Cardstock Pieces - cut 6 cardstock colors in 1/4” pieces and layer together
  • Silver Glimmer Paper - 1/8” pieces (x2), layer on either side of the “rainbow” and add to the DSP at an angle. Trim off excess.
Here is a photo of the inside of the card. I just added more of the 1/4” cardstock scraps to keep the rainbow party going from the front of the card. I just think this is such a cheery card to brighten a friend’s day.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share a project using the color challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday March 15th, 2019.
