I also wanted to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge, as well. You just can’t go wrong with starting with a fantastic sketch for your cards. The FMS team always has amazing creative inspiration, so check them out.
The inspiration for my card was a little unusual this week. As I sat down to create, my eye was drawn to a little tube of hand cream I have in my craft room. Working with paper, hand cream is an essential item in here to keep my hands from drying out. The color combo on the packaging instantly got my wheels turning, so I pulled out the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog) and the Daisy Punch. You just never know where you will find creative inspiration. CLICK HERE if you’d like to take a peek at the hand cream I found at Target. Ps: it smells really good, too!
Today’s Colors:
This card came together easily and there is very minimal stamping. Hooray for easy, right? I wanted the gingham paper to be the superstar, as it is the focus of the theme challenge. The simple stamped sentiment is from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.
For the flower, I punched out 2 of the daisies from the Gingham Gala DSP and then punched another daisy out of vellum. I used the 3/4” Circle Punch for the flower center. Then, I added some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the center of the flower and on the punched vellum daisy for some sparkly detail. I layered up the daisies and the circle punch adding a Stampin’ Dimensional between each layer to really make the flower pop. Finally, I added a little bow to the center of the flower, because it looked a little “naked” to me without it…and because it was sitting on my desk unused from another project. :)
Card Measurements:
- Balmy Blue Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
- Daffodil Delight Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
- Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
- Daffodil Delight Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 4-1/8”
- Balmy Blue Cardstock (embossed with Striped Scallops) - 3” x 4”
- Whisper White Cardstock (for sentiment) - 5/8” x 2-1/8”
- Daffodil Delight Cardstock (behind banner) - scrap
As always, here is a look inside the card. As this card wasn’t really for a specific occasion, I just added a little pop of the Gingham Gala DSP and a stamped image from the Daisy Delight Stamp set. I forgot to add to the supply table at the end of this post, so CLICK HERE for more information about that stamp set.
I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share a project using the color challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday April 12th, 2019.
