Hello and welcome to Kylie’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop for May! We are a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from all over the world sharing our love of stamping. We are all part of Kylie Bertucci’s training group where we are having a great time learning and growing our Stampin’ Up!® businesses. If this is the first time you are visiting my blog, welcome! My name is Anne Marie Hile and I live in the United States. I’m so glad you stopped by today!
My card features the Best Catch Bundle. The Best Catch stamp set and Catch of the Day dies are currently available in the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Catalog and will be actually be carrying over into the new Annual Catalog which makes its debut on June 4th.
Let me preface this by saying I’m not a gal who is skilled in the craft of fishing…or anything that falls into the “outdoorsy” category, like camping. My husband, however, really enjoys that kind of thing. He was my consultant for this card. When I started coloring the fish with my Stampin’ Blends markers, I was simply enjoying blending the colors together. I finally had to break down and ask him if it looked like a “real” fish. I guess I should have done a little Google search before I started coloring, huh?
My card started with the fish and I just created a little “scene” around him. I used the Crackle paint Background stamp (which is also carrying over to the new catalog) stamped in Crumb Cake Ink on Sahara Sand Cardstock for a weathered look in the background. Then I sponged ink around the edges of the cardstock, the cattails, the net (from the Under the Sea Dies) and the sentiment.
I added a little piece of Copper Trim behind the sentiment add a little bit of texture and shimmer. You can pull the trim apart with your fingers and it has a really cool texture. Then, I used the Braided Linen Trim tied in a little knot as an accent on the sentiment as well. This trim also “frays” really nicely when you start pulling it apart with your fingers. I thought this card needed a little somethin’ somethin’ but a bow just seemed out of place. Sometimes with masculine cards, I tend to want to overdo it with embellishments, so keeping it simple adds the right amount of detail. I like how this came out and I hope you do as well.
For coloring with the Stampin’ Blends, I used the Old Olive and Calypso Coral Combo packs of light and dark markers, then I “blended" in a little bit of Cajun Craze Light. To “move around” some of the color, I used the color lifter in different areas on the fish to create some shading. Remember to only use the Tuxedo Black Momento ink when working with Stampin’ Blends.
Card Measurements:
- Cajun Craze Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
- Old Olive Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
- Sahara Sand Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
Finally, a look at the inside of the card using some of the stamps and a little die cut fish from the Best Catch Bundle. I left the card blank because I thought it could work for either a birthday or anniversary…or maybe just a little love note for my husband.
