Welcome to the Stampin' Friends Blog Hop! We share on the third Thursday of every month with fun projects from all around the world! This month our theme is Fall, which is my favorite season. If you are following the hop, you arrived here from Barbara Welch’s blog. Her projects were pretty awesome, don’t you think?
For my projects, I am using a the new Gather Together Bundle which will be available starting September 4th in the new Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog. This bundle is so perfect to celebrate the fall season. Leaves, pumpkins and great sentiments, what more could you ask for in a Fall set? I especially love that there are 4 different sizes of leaves in the die set.
Today’s Colors:
The large Cajun Craze leaf was heat embossed in gold to add a little extra glitz and I popped in a gold foil banner to compliment the leaf. From there, I die cut some of the leaves in different sizes to create a little “cluster" to frame the sentiment.
Don’t you just love all of the detail in those leaves? I love how the dies both cut AND emboss. To make sure to get the best embossed detail on the leaves, spritz your cardstock lightly with water before running them through your die cut machine. The water softens up the paper fibers and it really gives the leaves awesome definition.
The Sprig Punch made it easy to pop in that hint of the Merry Merlot color to frame the sentiment. I also used the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to add some sparkly detail to them. You can never go wrong with a little sparkle. I’ve listed all of the products I used to create these projects at the end of this blog post, as well.
- Pretty Peacock Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
- Cajun Craze Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
- Early Espresso Cardstock (embossed with Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder) -3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
- Come to Gather Designer Series Paper - 1-3/4” x 3-7/8”
- Gold Foil Paper (one end punched with Banner Triple Punch) - 5/8” x 2”
- Scraps of Cajun Craze, Pretty Peacock, Merry Merlot and Whisper White cardstock for stampeded die cut images
The coordinating gift card holder is super easy to put together. When you fold the cardstock on the score lines, you will notice one of the folds is a little shorter. That is the inside of the gift card holder. Adhere the DSP to that fold and then use a 1-1/2” Circle punch to punch a little “notch” to make it easier to get the gift card in and out. Then just add a little adhesive along the sides to hold it closed but still allow the gift card to fit in the little pocket.
For the sentiment, I punched it out using the Timeless Label punch but made it a little smaller so it didn’t overwhelm the sentiment. That adds a lot of versatility to that punch, especially to use on smaller sentiments.
Here are a few photos to show you how I made a smaller punched image.
Gift Card Holder Measurements:
- Pretty Peacock Card Base - 4-1/4” x 7”, score at 2” and 4-1/2”
- Cajun Craze Cardstock (front of gift card holder) - 2-1/4”x 4”
- Come to Gather Designer Series paper (front of gift card holder) - 2-1/8” x 3-7/8”
- Come to Gather Designer Series Paper (inside gift card holder) - 1-3/4” x 4”
