Floral Essence for FF0044

Hello and Happy Friday to you! It’s time for another fun challenge over on the Festive Friday blog. For this challenge, our festivity is Boss’ Day, which is on Oct 16th. How do you play along? Use the Inspo List (below) of 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE (or more) of the items in your project and link up! The project does NOT have to focus on the festivity itself, just the elements in the list. Easy, right?
To get started on my card, the focused on the following items on the Inspo List: Thank You/For You - Flowers - Metallics. I guess technically this would also be appropriate for a Boss’ Day card, as well. That sentiment from the Country Home stamp set is one of my favorites. It is so perfect for a variety of occasions.

Color Combo:

When I got started making this card, I wanted to use more of a rich and neutral color combo to make the gold heat embossed details stand out a little bit more. I’m usually more of a “brights” gal when it comes to colors, so I wasn’t too sure about the colors at first. I do really like how it turned out though.
This card features a variety of stamps, punches and dies. I recently ordered the Birch background stamp and was super-excited to use it on this card. I stamped the image in Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla Cardsrtock and then sponged a little ink around the edges for a distressed detail.

The flowers (Floral Essence set) and sentiment (Country Home set) were heat embossed in gold. I popped in a few leafy accents from the Bouquet Bunch dies, then added a few pearls and a simple bow. The heat embossing is really the star of the card though.

Card Measurements:
  • Merry Merlot Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Early Espresso Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Scraps of Merry Merlot, Early Espresso and Mossy Meadow Cardstock for die cuts and punches

There you have it, a sweet card to share with someone special. The embossing really adds a lot of extra detail to this card. I left the inside of the card blank to add a handwritten note.

Hop on over to the Festive Friday blog to see what the rest of the Design Team shared this week. We’d love to have you join us with your project! The challenge is open from today through Monday October 14th at 8:00 PM CST, so you have plenty of time to play along.

  1. Ooh! I'm glad you mentioned that the birch was a background stamp! I thought it was DSP :D Just a thought - swap out sentiments and you'd have a great Christmas card! Those flowers could pass for poinsettias for sure.
