Forever Blossoms for PP472

Happy New Year friends! After taking some much-needed time off over the holidays, I’m excited to be back for the first challenge of 2020 over at The Paper Players. The week, the lovely and talented Jaydee has a Theme Challenge for us and we are also welcoming three AWESOME new Guest Designers. Check it out and play along with us!
What better way to start the New Year than with a “Something New” theme, right? I love that there are so many possibilities with this theme: new year, new house, new pet, new baby…and so on. I decided I wanted to create a wedding card this week (new marriage…wink, wink) and was immediately inspired by one of the photos in the challenge badge. The card could also fit into the theme using the "new blooms” that come to life in the Spring season.
Color Combo:

As soon as I saw this challenge, I knew I wanted to ink up the Forever Blossoms bundle from the new Mini Catalog. I just love that cherry blossom image, which really comes to life using the Stampin’ Blends markers. I inked up the image in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink and then colored it with the Stampin’ Blends. I added in a bit of Flirty Flamingo to accent the Petal Pink Flowers to give them a little more depth.

This suite of product is absolutely gorgeous! The Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper has gorgeous foil accents on one side and I paired it up with a layer of Champagne Foil to really make it pop. I popped up the die cut flower on a Crumb Cake layer embossed with the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder. I also sponged the edges and the raised embossed detail with some Crumb Cake ink.
When it came to the sentiment, I tried a banner, a punch and another die cut that was just too big for the card. In the end, I went back to the trusty Layering Circles Dies. This is the third from the smallest circle die and the sentiment was heat embossed using Pewter Embossing Powder. What’s that? Pewter Embossing Powder is NOT in the current Stampin’ Up!® catalog? You are right. I didn’t even realize it was retired until I wad typing up this blog post. *shakes head* If you don’t have Pewter Embossing Powder, you could substitute Silver or just use Soft Suede ink for the sentiment. In the words of Tim Gunn from Project Runway: “Make it work!” I also sponged more Crumb Cake ink around the sentiment circle.

Let’s talk about that Petal Pink Metallic Edge Ribbon, shall we? It’s GORGEOUS!! I may be stockpiling it…just saying. As much as I love it, I decided to layer a linen thread bow on top of it to add more texture and color to the card. I also added some Clear Wink of Stella to the center of the flowers because you can never go wrong with sparkle.

Card Measurements:
  • Old Olive Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Champagne Foil - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock (embossed with Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder) - 3-1/8” x 4-1/4”
  • Scraps of Whisper White Cardstock for stamped and dies cut floral image and sentiment
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
Finally, here is a peek inside the card. I added another floral image and heat embossed the sentiment in that good ol’ retired Pewter Embossing powder. I just love the mix of fonts in that sentiment, don’t you?
