It Starts With Art for FF0050

Welcome to the first Festive Friday Challenge of 2020! For #FF0050, our festivity is Inspire Your Heart with Art Day, which is coming up on January 31st. Our Inspo List features 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE (or more) of the items in your project and link up to the challenge! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about Inspire Your Heart with Art Day – at all! The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with some fun and interesting ideas to inspire your creativity!
My Inspo List picks: Rainbow - Buttons - Ribbon - Stitching - Diecuts

Although the projects don’t have to focus on the festivity, as soon as I saw the challenge the It Starts with Art stamp set immediately came to mind for me. This stamp set and the coordinating Arts and Crafts Dies are perfect for anyone who loves to craft and I don’t use this bundle nearly enough.

I happened to be chatting with a friend the other day about how in just a few short months the 2018-2020 In Colors from Stampin’ Up! will be retiring. Nooo!!! This is one of my favorite groups of In Colors because I just love how bright and cheery they are. They remind me of a brand new box of crayons and work perfectly for a rainbow card. These colors will be retiring  at the beginning of June but the ink and cardstock usually sell out as soon as the retiring list is “officially" announced. So, if you love Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel as much as I do, now is a great time to start stocking up! Plus, it’s Sale-A-Bration, so you can earn some additional free product with every $50 you spend. Woot woot! More info HERE
So, let’s chat about the card, shall we? To start, I die-cut a row of buttons in each of the 5 colors using the Arts & Crafts Dies. I felt like they needed just a little something more,  so I took each “row” of buttons and covered them with VersaMark Ink by pressing the front of die-cuts into the ink pad. Then, I covered the inked up die-cuts with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and embossed them using the Heat Tool. I repeated that process twice on each row of buttons to get some extra shine.

Because you just can’t have TOO many buttons (or texture), I embossed the Whisper White Cardstock with the Button, Button 3D Embossing Folder
For some added sparkle, I also heat embossed the sentiment on a die-cut Stitched Shapes circle using Shimmer Black Embossing Powder. To finish everything off, I popped a little ribbon behind the circle and added a trio of rhinestones. It’s just a happy little card, don’t you think?

Card Measurements:
  • Pineapple Punch Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic Black Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with Button, Button Embossing Folder) - 3-7/8” x 4-1/8”
  • Scraps of Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover, Blueberry Bushel and Whisper White Cardstock for die cutting
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”

Finally, here is a look inside the card. I stamped a little trio of button images and colored them with Stampin’ Blends. I decided not to add a sentiment right now as this card could be used for a few different occasions. (birthday, thank you, friendship) I’ll just pop in a sentiment when I get ready to mail it out, or just leave it blank to add a handwritten note.

Hop on over to the Festive Friday Challenge to see what the rest of the Design Team  shared this week. We’d love to have you join us with your project! The challenge is open from today through Monday January 20th at 8:00 PM CST, so you have plenty of time to play along.
