This week, LeAnne is our fabulous hostess for our monthly
Sketch Challenge.
Check it out and play along with us!
Hooray, it’s Sketch Challenge Week! Sketch challenges are my FAVORITE challenges. It’s so fun to start with the “foundation” and build the card design around it. It’s also always fun to see how everyone interprets the sketch in their design. So, I have to share a story about this card and how it came together. This past week, I attended a crafting retreat here in San Antonio that started Thursday afternoon and ended last night. That’’s 2-1/2 days of stamping y’all! It was so much FUN to have all of that time to create, but most importantly it was such a blessing to be able to spend time having fun with some amazing friends! I’ve shared some photos over on my Facebook Page HERE, if you’d like to check them out. While you are there be sure to “Like” my page, if you haven’t already. :)
Color Combo:
One of the things I’ve noticed with craft retreats is that it can be a little challenging because unless you are SUPER prepared (which I was not) it’s tough to know exactly what to bring. I mean, I could have packed my entire craft room since it was local for me but that’s a little too extreme. I knew I had to create a card for the challenge while I was there, so I decided to see what I could come up with. Surely in a room of over 60 stampers I could make something work, right?
This card uses the Wish for it All Bundle which I actually do not own (yet!). I borrowed it from the stamp “library” at the retreat because I thought it wold work well with the sketch. The Brights DSP I actually won in a raffle at the retreat, which was great because I wanted work with bright colors and didn’t bring any patterned paper with me that I liked for the card. As I got to creating the card, I knew what I wanted to use but lacked a few more of the supplies. Never fear, a few supply “donations” from around the conference room and I finished the job! My friend Robin had the scrap of vellum, my friend Mary Ann had the colored ink pads, my friend Nathan had the Versamark ink and Heat Tool and my new friend at the table behind me had the Embossing Buddy and the white embossing powder. My friend Erica happened to be tying some bows and when I asked her what else she though the card needed she said “How about this?” and tied a double bow for me on the spot. Talk about collaborative crafting! So much fun!
