March 2020 - Stampin Friends Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin' Friends Blog Hop! We share on the third Thursday of every month with fun projects from all around the world! If you are following the hop, you arrived here from Maureen's blog. Welcome! This month our theme is Congrats, Grads, Brides and (or) Babies"

My projects this month feature the Congratulations Theme that would work for a graduation but also so many other occasions, like a new job. a promotion or just achieving a special milestone. We all have those occasions to celebrate, so why not send a handmade card and a little gift in the mail to tell someone how awesome they are.
For my projects this month, I decided to feature two items that are coming up in the NEW Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog coming out in May! These products are available right now to demonstrators and will be available starting April 1st for customers. I’m featuring the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper and the Ornate Borders Dies, which coordinate so perfectly.
The paper is a beautiful mix of floral patterns and some of the opposite sides feature patterns with beautiful gold foiling. It is perfect to celebrate the Spring season! There are also TWO stamp sets in this suite, along with an additional coordinating die set, plus coordinating ribbon and the gold Gilded Gems. I’ve used the Old Olive Ribbon and gems on my projects here, as well. I can already tell I’ll being buying a LOT of those little gems, they are SO sparkly!
Color Combo:
If you look closely, you also might see a little sneaky peek of a brand new In Color which is coming up in the new Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog in May. Want a hint at the name of the new color? It’s named the little critter that makes a buzzing sound that loves flowers. *wink, wink* I’ve included a full supply list below, along with the project measurements.
 Card Measurements and Details:
  • Old Olive Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Early Espresso Cardstock - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Terracotta Tile Cardstock - 5” x 3-3/4”
  • Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper -2-1/8" x 3-3/4”
  • Gold Foil - scrap to die cut the detailed border from the Ornate Border Dies
  • Vellum - scrap to die cut two flowers from the Ornate Borders Dies
  • Heat emboss the sentiment from the Seriously the Best stamp set by stampin the sentiment in Versamark Ink, then in Early Espresso ink and heat embossing with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder
My coordinating project is a dressed-up notebook. I found these mini composition notebooks at Dollar Tree and they come in a pack of 3 for $1. You can buy them online HERE (there is a minimum order) or you can try to find them in your local store. With a little DSP and some embellishments, they take on a whole new look. Everyone needs a little notebook to have in their purse, their car or on their desk. These really make great gifts and you can make them as fancy or as simple as you’d like.

Measurements for Mini Composition Notebook:
  • Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper (front): 2-5/8”- ish x 4-1/2”
  • The reason I say “ish” is that I’ve found all of the notebooks in the 3-pack seem to have the “spine” of the notebook glued on at different measurements. If you cut your paper a little longer than the 2-5/8” measurement, you might have to trim a little off the edge but will ensure you cover the notebook.
  • Old Olive Cardstock (back of notebook): 2-5/8” -ish x 4-1/2”
  • Old Olive Cardstock: scrap to punch two leaves from the Leaf Punch
  • Terracotta Tile Cardstock: scrap to die cut one small, one medium and one large flower from the Ornate Border dies
  • Gold Foil: scrap to punch one shape from Starburst Punch
  • Whisper White Cardstock: scrap to stamp sentiment from Peaceful Moments stamp set in Old Olive Ink and then punch with 2” Circle Punch
Here is a peek inside the card. I added a little pop of the Ornate Garden DSP along with the coordinating sentiment from the Seriously The Best stamp set.
