Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month, our theme for the hop is Holiday Debut, which will feature projects using products from the Stampin’ Up!® August - December Mini Catalog, which you can view HERE.
I’ve listed all of the hoppers toward the end of the post, so make sure you stop by and see what everyone has to share today!
All of the measurements for my projects are listed below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this blog post.
For my card, I featured one of my favorite new bundles in the Mini Catalog: Dove of Hope. The Dove of Hope stamp set is beautiful on its own featuring some really wonderful holiday sentiments. Because 2020 has been an “interesting” year (to say the least) I think these sentiments are just really fitting right now. I always tend to look at the sentiments in stamp sets first and what I love about this set is that there are coordinating sentiments to use inside the card as well. That’s always a big deal for me with holiday cards!
The Detailed Dove Dies not only work to cut out the stamped images but there are also dies in the set that work on their own to create a stunning dove (or even angels wings) and leafy sprigs. I made another card with the detailed dove that I will be sharing here on my blog really soon, so stay tuned for that.
I really wanted the gold embossing to pop so I did something I pretty much NEVER do, I focused on a lot of white space. Sometimes less is more, right? I added the red in sparingly with the cardstock layers, the rhinestone berries and the simple bow. I also added a little bit of Wink of Stella to the dove for some added sparkle. I really liked how these swaps came out and I hope you do as well. I actually made a bunch of them for my team swaps this month, too.
Tip: use the Thick version of Whisper White Cardstock for card bases as opposed to “regular” Whisper White. It’s much more sturdy and is meant to be used for card bases.
