Full of Perks Kitty for PP509

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always lovely LeAnne is hosting our Clean-and Simple (CAS) Challenge.
Check it out and play along with us!
This week is all about our pets! How fun, right? Our pets provide so much unconditional love and companionship, I don’t know what I would do without mine.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below, along with a full supply list at the very end of this post.
With the theme this week, I immediately went to grab the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper. I was going to use the coordinating stamp set and dies but as I was looking through the paper, I realized there were so many fun little images, I decided to just focus on the patterns in the paper for my card.

This chubby kitty with the grumpy look on his face just cracks me up. That face! He reminds me of one of my cats, Benjamin Maxwell. Benny is a Maine Coon cat and weighs in at a little over 23 pounds, which is pretty robust for a kitty. He always has that serious look on his face, especially when he can see a glimpse of the bottom of his food bowl. Benny REALLY likes his food. Can you tell? Haha! He was the inspiration for my card this week, so I added that second food bowl to the little “scene" in his honor
After I fussy cut the kitty, the food bowls and ball of yarn, I went on the hunt for a fun sentiment. The “Hope Your Day is Full of Perks” from the Press On stamp set was SO perfect and it’s even more funny because cat looks completely unimpressed by it.

It a little tough to see in the photos, but I also added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the collar of the kitty, the food bowls and the ball of yarn. It adds some fun detail to the fussy cut pieces. I also added a simple bow to finish the card off because I never really feel like a card is complete without a little bit of ribbon.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Thick Whisper White Card Base - 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4”
  • Real Red Cardstock - 5 1/4“ x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”, embossed with Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder
  • Playful Pets Designer Series Paper - 2” x 3 7/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - scrap to die cut the 3 5/8” x 2 1/2” scalloped rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies
  • Smoky Slate Cardstock - scrap to add a small strip to the bottom of the scalloped rectangle to give the kitty a little “ground” to sit on
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock - start with a strip measuring about 4” x 5/8", using the Stamparatus hold strip in place with magnets and stamp sentiment in black ink, then clean stamp and stamp again in Versamark ink. Heat emboss sentiment using Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Snip off the excess cardstock at an angle on either side of the sentiment. (*Note - you could also just stamp the sentiment in black ink and skip the heat embossing)
  • Playful Pets Designer Paper - fussy-cut kitty, three food bowls (two for the front, one for the inside) and one ball of yarn from the patterned paper, adhere to scalloped rectangle using Stampin Dimensionals
  • Real Red Cardstock (inside card) - 5 1/4” x 4
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
  • Playful Pets Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1 1/4” x 3 7/8”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I added a birthday sentiment from the Well Said stamp set and another strip of the Playful Pets DSP.

  6. Oh my gosh! I love this card - and Benjamin Maxwell! - so much! Your card is perfect and plays true homage to the ruler of your roost. Also? Love the double name. He knows he's in trouble when you use him FULL name. He doesn't CARE - but he KNOW! ;)

  8. Love this card! The kitty totally makes me laugh! The facial expression is perfect! Benny is a gorgeous cat and my cats suffer from the empty bowl syndrome as well! The sky is falling if the bowl is empty...even if they just ate!
