October 2020 - Stamping Sunday Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends! Today, I’m super-excited to share the October Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This hop is hosted by Sara Levin and we share on the second Sunday of every month. Our theme for the month is “Designing with Designer Paper” and we are featuring Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up August - December Mini Catalog.
For this Hop, the designers can feature projects in two different ways:
  • A Beginner, Casual and Avid Card *OR*
  • A Card and a 3D Project
One thing I love about Stampin’ Up!® is that they coordinate suites of products together to make it easy to get ONE bundle that works together. What I wanted to do for this challenge was to show how you can also use a lot of the other products in the Mini Catalog outside of their “suites”.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my projects below and there is a full supply list at the very end of the post.
Now, I’m generally a non-traditional holiday colors kind of gal, but there is something about the ’Tis the Season Designer Series Paper that just makes me happy. It’s that traditional red/green combo but the patterns are SO easy to use. Oh, and it’s also on sale for 15% off in October, so that’s pretty cool, too.

I paired the paper up with the Poinsettia Petals Bundle. I also used the new Red Velvet Paper for the layered flower, which has such awesome texture in person. I love that the Poinsettia Dies cut AND emboss, too. The added detail really pops on the velvet paper! Here is a “gate-fold” card that is a great way to showcase your Designer Series Paper.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Shaded Spruce Card Base: 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, score once at 2 1/8” and then flip the cardstock over and score again on the other side at 2 1/8” to create gatefold card base
  • Tis the Season Designer Series Paper (red print): 2” x 5 3/8” (2 pieces)
  • Real Red Cardstock: 3 1/2” x 5”
  • ’Tis the Season Designer Series Paper (green plaid): 3 3/8” x 4 7/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock: die cut 2 5/8” x 4” rectangle from stitched rectangle dies, stamp sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink, wrap ribbon around die-cut
  • Red Velvet Paper: Die cut three layers of poinsettias along with the coordinating embossed dies, layer together using Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: die cut three of the smaller leaves along with the coordinating embossed dies
  • Silver Foil: Die cut two sprigs from Poinsettia Dies
  • Pearls Basic Jewels and red ribbon from Playful Pets Combo Pack
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5 1/4”
  • ’Tis the Season Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5 1/4"
Here’s a look inside the card. I used a little pop of the coordinating DSP from the front of the card along with the big, bold sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set. I love this fun fold, It’s easy but just a little different from a “regular” card.
Next up, I made a coordinating box for the card. This card can fit a variety of items from smaller sized toiletries, to sweet treats, to a couple of scented votive candles. It’s a great box that is easy to make and I was inspired by my sweet friend and team leader Erica Cerwin to create this one.

Box Measurements and Details:
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: 7 1/2” x 8 1/2”
  • On the short (7 1/2”) side, score at 2” and 5 1/2”
  • On the long (8 1/2”) side, score at 2”, 4”, 6” and 8"
  • Cut and trim the box as shown in the photo below
  • 'Tis the Season Designer Series Paper (for box): 1 3/4” x 3 1/4” (3 pieces), 1 3/4” x 1 3/4” (2 pieces)
  • Red Velvet Paper: die-cut/emboss three poinsettias as shown in the photo below
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: scrap to die cut two sprigs as shown in the photo below, accent with Wink of Stella for added Sparkle
  • Whisper White Cardstock: scrap to die cut the 2 1/2” x 1” rectangle from the stitched rectangle dies, stamp sentiment in Real Red ink
  • Pearl Basic Jewels and red ribbon from Playful Pets Ribbon Combo Pack
I hope you enjoyed these projects! Please continue along on the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop to check out more awesome creative inspiration.
