Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up Demonstrators who love to share fun creative ideas. This month, our theme for the hop is Halloween and Autumn Hues.
I’ve listed all of the hoppers toward the end of the post, so make sure you stop by and see what everyone has to share today!
All of the measurements for my project are listed below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this blog post.
It’s probably no surprise that the inspiration for my project came from the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper! This paper has NOT left my desk since I originally received it. Actually, I may need someone to come and take it from me because I can NOT stop using it. The color assortment is perfect for so many occasions and it’s also on sale for 15% off this month. I may, or may not, have picked up 4 or 5 additional packs of it already. Shhh...
I have been wanting to use this beautiful plaid pattern for a while now and as soon as I pulled it out, I knew it was going to pair well with the Harvest Hellos stamp set. This is a great fall set which also has a coordinating Apple Builder Punch. Pumpkins and apples, perfect for Fall, right?
There are lots of layers on this card, which I sometimes get carried away with. (wink) But I really wanted to showcase all of those gorgeous colors in the paper. I did add some Wink of Stella to the leaves, along the stamped “lines” on the pumpkins and the jack o’ lantern face for some added detail. I cut the DSP into three strips to add some extra detail to the background, but it could have easily been a 3 3/4” x 5” piece if you didn’t want to go through making sure the plaids were lined up on each of the strips.
Card Measurements and Details:
- Pumpkin Pie Card Base: 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/5”
- Rich Razzleberry Cardstock: 4” x 5 1/4”
- Bumblebee Cardstock: 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”
- Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper: three strips measuring 1 1/8” x just shy of 5” (about 1/16”)
- Rich Razzleberry Cardstock: die cut the largest frame from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies
- Whisper White Cardstock: die cut the 4 1/4” frame from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, emboss using Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
- Pumpkin Pie Cardstock: scrap to stamp two pumpkin images in Pumpkin Pie ink, stamp the jack o’lantern face on one of the pumpkins using Momento ink, punch out using Apple Builder Punch
- Add Wink of Stella to jack o’lantern face for added detail
- Garden Green Cardstock: scrap to stamp two pumpkin leaves in Garden Green ink, then fussy-cut and add Wink of Stella for added sparkle
- Early Espresso Cardstock: scrap to punch two pumpkin stems from Apple Builder Punch
- Basic Black Cardstock: 3” x 5/8”, stamp and heat emboss sentiment using Versamark ink and white embossing powder, punch either end using the Banners Pick a Punch
- Linen Thread and rhinestones (3) colored with Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blends
- Whisper White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5 1/4”
- Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper (inside card): 1” x 5 1/4”
- Basic Black Cardstock (inside card): 1 1/8” x 5/8”, heat emboss sentiment and snip either end at an angle
Finally a peek inside the card. I added a strip of that fabulous plaid DSP along with some stamped leaves and a heat embossed sentiment to match the sentiment on the front of the card. I thought this would make a fun card fro Halloween or could also be used to send a little fall hello this month.
