Seascape for PP545

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the lovely Claire is hosting our monthly Color Challenge.
As soon as I saw this color combo, I couldn’t WAIT to create with it! If you have visited me before, you might know that bright and cheery colors just make me happy and this combo features three of my all-time favorite colors. Whoop Whoop!

Looking through some of my new stamp sets, I decided to use the Seascape Stamp set and coordinating Sea Life Dies to create a fun underwater scene. this card was also perfect to try out the new Layering Diorama Dies which also coordinates beautifully with the Seascape Bundle

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
This card came together pretty easily, as the die sets are really the stars of the show. I just love the added detail in the fish and the coral. I accented those pieces with Wink of Stella for some added sparkle and popped the fish and some of the coral pieces on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I heat embossed the sentiment and just love how the white embossing pops on the dark cardstock. That ribbon…oh my goodness. You would have laughed if you saw how many different ways I tried to incorporate it onto the card. In the end, I decided less was more and just added a little pop of it behind the sentiment.

Bermuda Bay, Three Ways: I wanted to add some different shading inside the layered “window” to add some depth to the sea scene. (Ha, “depth"…no pun intended.) The top layer is simply Bermuda Bay Cardstock, with some embossed detail from the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder. The second layer is Bermuda Bay Cardstock with extra Bermuda Bay ink added to darken it a bit and the last layer is Basic White Cardstock shaded with Bermuda Bay ink for a lighter look. I opted to NOT add any dimensionals between the layers and I think the different shades really add some pop without the added bulk.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Melon Mambo Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”

  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-3/4” x 5, add Bermuda Bay ink to cardstock using a Sponge Dauber in the are that will be seen through the layered dies.
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock: scrap to die cut three pieces of “coral” from the Sea Life Dies (use one full die cut and cut pieces from he other two)
  • Melon mambo Cardstock: scrap to die cut three fish from the Sea Life dies, add a small scrap of Basic Black cardstock on the back of the fish to fill in the eyes

Finally a peek inside the card. I added a coordinating sentiment along with some of the fun images from the stamp set to “keep the party going” from the front of the card. Side note: I love those little bubbles.
