Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players!
This week, the lovely Jaydee is hosting our monthly Color Challenge.
This is such a fun color combo featuring three of the 2020-2022 Stampin’ Up!® In Colors! I had a few different ideas for this trio but finally decided to create my card using the Hats Off stamp set and coordinating Hat Builder Dies. I mixed in Crumb Cake as my neutral color.
*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
I just love all of the fun pieces in the Hat Builder Dies! The stitching on the hat really adds so much extra detail, too. I used Stampin’ Write Markers in Bumblebee and Misty Moonlight to color the sun and water image. The Stitched Stars dies just happened to be sitting on my desk from my Friday Facebook Live video and turned out to be a fun accent for the card.
After adding embossed texture to the Crumb Cake layer, I sponged some ink around the edges which kind of gives it that “outdoorsy vibe”. I couldn’t decide on a ribbon and finally just decided to forego adding any to the card because it really didn’t need it. As far as embellishments, I simply added one little resin dot to the top of the hat. I love how this card came out and I hope you do as well.
Card Measurements and Details:
- Just Jade Card Base: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
- Misty Moonlight Cardstock: 5-1/4” x 4”
- Crumb Cake Cardstock: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”, emboss using Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and sponge around edges using Crumb Cake Ink
- In Color 2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Paper in Bumblebee: die cut using the 4-3/8” rectangle from the Stitched Rectangle Dies
- Basic White Cardstock: 2-1/2” x (just under) 3/4”, stamp sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink and punch a banner on the left side using the Tailored Tag Punch
- Just Jade, Misty Moonlight, Bumblebee and Basic White Cardstock: scraps to die cut the hat, hat details and stars
- Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 5-1/4” x 4”
- In Color 2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Paper in Bumblebee (inside card): 3/4” x 4”
Finally, a peek inside the card! I simply added a little strip of the DSP, a little hat and some stamped stars. Isn’t that tiny hat adorable? I decided to leave the sentiment off since this card could be used for a few different occasions. I’ll just add an appropriate sentiment when I send it out or leave it blank to include a handwritten note to the recipient.
I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Theme Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with using this fun “Stars and/or Stripes” Theme You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 16th, 2021.
