Shaded Summer for PP560

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the lovely Joanne is hosting a fun Sketch Challenge.
As soon as I saw this sketch, I couldn’t WAIT to create with it! It’s no secret that sketch challenges are my favorite, especially when there is a repeating element. I have my little “crafty quirks” and anything repeated in an odd number just makes me happy. I’m weird, I know. Haha!

For my card, I decided to use a new (to me) stamp and die set. The Shaded Summer stamp set is featured in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog is features beautiful floral images and sentiment for all occasions. For a limited time during Sale-A-Bration, the coordinating Summer Shadows Dies can be earned for FREE with a $100 order. If you love the dies, don’t wait too long to order…Sale-A-Bration ends on September 30th

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
I love how the dies can be layered together to create multidimensional flowers. I was trying to decide on a color combo and came upon the Black Glitter Paper in my paper stash. I’m never going to say no to sparkle, that’s for sure.

Next, I had to pick a color combo. Admittedly, I’m a "pink girl” so I always tend to gravitate to that color. Polished Pink is one of my favorite pinks and looks really striking with a simple black and white color combo. I this this card would look great with many other colors, too. I’m already thinking about making a few more using Highland Heather or Coastal Cabana. I just don’t think you can go wrong with black and white with a pop of color!
Edited to add: I actually DID make the cards in additional colors! This afternoon on my Facebook Live video I put it to a vote to make the card in either Highland Heather or Coastal Cabana.
In the end, Highland Heather won, but after the video I couldn’t help but make one more card in Coastal Cabana just to see how it turned out. Which color is your favorite?

Card Measurements & Details:
  • Polished Pink Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (host exclusive): 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 3/4” x 5-1/8”
  • Black Glimmer Paper: 1/2” x 5-1/8”, die cut using the scallop from the Penned Flowers Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: 1-1/2" x 1-1/2” (3 pieces)
  • Basic White Cardstock: 1-1/2” x 5/8”, stamp sentiment in Polished Pink ink, banner cut the left side using the Tailored tag Punch and add a rhinestone, as shown
  • Polished Pink, Granny Apple Green and Black Glitter Paper: scraps to die cut three flowers and three leaves
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment in Polished Pink ink
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (host exclusive): 3/4” x 5-1/4”
Finally, a peek inside the card! I added a little strip of DSP, stamped a coordinating sentiment and added another layered leaf. I was originally thinking of using the leaf on the front of the card and didn’t want it to go to waste. I love how it adds a little pop of sparkle to the inside of the card!

  7. Such wonderful sparkly goodness on all 3 cards! I don't think I can pick a favorite! I think I might actually have to cut in the black glimmer paper I've been ignoring! Hope you have a fun week!

  10. Anne Marie, I love that you showcased three different color combos with this sketch. The black, white and pink, steals my heart though. There really is something about that color combo. I love the black scalloped edge and the bold black stripes are perfect with the bold black outlines of the flowers. Fabulous card
