Hello Stamping Friends! Today, I’m super-excited to share the October 2021 Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This hop is hosted by Sara Levin and we share on the second Sunday of every month. Our theme for the month is “As the Season Turns”.
Here in South Texas, the fall season is FINALLY on the horizon. This week the temps are not expected to go over 90 degrees and by next weekend we should be in the 70 degree range. That means it will be in the mid-50’s at night. I’m SO excited! That is “Texas Sweater Weather” and I can hear a few of you laughing.
I was born and raised in Upstate New York, so I’m not a stranger to cold weather. I’ve just acclimated a bit to the never-ending summer here in San Antonio. One of the things I miss the most from living up north is the fall season. The gorgeous colors, the falling leaves...that smell in the air as the colder weather moves in.
All of the measurements for my project are listed below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this blog post.
I used Sponge Daubers to add that gorgeous fall sky to the background using Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze, Bumblebee, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink. After I sponged and blended the inks, I spritzed the cardstock with some rubbing alcohol (70%) in a Stampin’ Spritzer. The alcohol helps to set the ink but also adds a little bit of “splotchy” texture to the background, which I love!
Card Measurements and Details:
- Cajun Craze Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
- Rich Razzleberry Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
- Crumb Cake Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, embossed with Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, add Crumb Cake ink around the edges with Crumb Cake ink
- Cork Specialty Paper: 3-7/8” x 5/8”, die cut using scalloped edge from Penned Flowers Dies
- Basic White Cardstock: 3-1/2” x 4-1/2”, stamp images in Early Espresso ink and sponge ink on the background using Sponge Daubers in Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze, Bumblebee, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks
- Spritz the stamped and inked layer with rubbing alcohol (70%) to help blend the colors and add some texture to the background
- Rich Razzleberry Cardstock: scrap to die cut leaf from Intricate Leaves Dies
- Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink and die cut using the Ornate Frames Dies
- Add some Crumb Cake ink around the edges of the sentiment label and add some drops of Wink of Stella with Crumb Cake ink
- Gold Simply Elegant Trim and Metallic Pearls
My coordinating project is a Post-It holder. I make these a lot for gifts and I know I’ve shared it on my blog before. I “tested” my sponged background on a smaller piece before making my card and I didn’t want it to go to waste. So, I went with a favorite project that is not only practical, but super-easy to make. I know I can ALWAYS use some extra Post-It’s, how about you?
