Blossoms in Bloom for PP571

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the always lovely LeAnne is hosting our monthly Color Challenge
This challenge is also our last challenge of 2021 and we’d love to have you join us!
When I saw the colors, all I could think about was making a holiday card. In fact, that’s what I was planning to do. I had a crafting day over at my sweet friend Teri’s house and planned to use one of her stamp sets and dies that I don’t have. Only problem…the set I thought she had, well, she didn’t actually have it. Haha! So, on to an alternative plan.

I looked through all of her holiday stamps and nothing was jumping out at me. (Probably because I was so SET on my original plan.) Then it struck me to make a NON-holiday card with these pretty traditional holiday colors. As I was perusing her stamps, I stopped on Blossoms in Bloom. Yes, it was THE ONE and I was going to make it work! And that’s how this card came to fruition.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
The Blossoms in Bloom stamp set is a fantastic all-occasion set and coordinates beautifully with the Many Layered Blossoms Dies. I just love a big, bold element on a card and this die fit the bill perfectly. I decided to paper piece the die cut floral image in the challenge colors on the Very Vanilla background. I wasn’t sure how it would come out but I have to say, I LOVE it! It just looks so elegant and I really wanted to make a bunch more to have on hand. However...

This took a little while to put together, I’ll be honest. When I ran the gold foil through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine all of the little “bits” stayed together on the image, so I left the floral centers in place and popped out the leaves and flower petals. It was easy to adhere to the Very Vanilla Cardstock by putting some liquid glue on the centers of the flowers.

Well, when I ran the Merry Merlot Cardstock through with the die, all of the pieces came out of the die. ALL. Of. Them! It was like a jigsaw puzzle trying to piece them in the right place inside the floral image but it all worked out with time and patience. I’m very determined, if nothing else. I would also recommend just using some small scraps of Shaded Spruce to JUST cut out the leaves to paper piece instead of the entire image. ;)
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Merry Merlot Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2"
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4"
  • Gold Brushed Metallic Cardstock: 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”, die cut floral image from the Many Layered Blossoms Dies
  • Merry Merlot Cardstock: 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”, die cut floral image from the Many Layered Blossoms Dies
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock: scraps to JUST die cut the leaves from the die cut floral image from the Many Layered Blossoms Dies
  • Piece the flowers and leaves inside the gold
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock: scrap to stamp sentiment in Shaded spruce ink and die cut using the label from the Potted Succulents Dies
  • Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels (3 green) and Gold Shimmer Ribbon
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment from the Best Year stamp set in Shaded Spruce ink  and flowers from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set in Merry Merlot ink
  • Gold Brushed Metallic Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 1/4"
Finally, here is look inside the card. I added a sentiment rom the Best Year stamp set along with a trio of stamped flowers. I had a little scrap of the gold cardstock left, so I popped it on the bottom for some added shine.
