January 2022 - Stamping Sunday Blog Hop

Hello Stamping Friends! Today, I’m super-excited to share the January 2022 Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This hop is hosted by Sara Levin and we share on the second Sunday of every month. Our theme for the month is “Sale-A-Bration”

Sale-A-Bration is my favorite part of the Stampin’ Up!® year! When you shop during this event, you'll receive a free product for every $50 you spend. There are also two items that you can earn with a $100 purchase. Who loves FREE stamping supplies? I know I do! Learn more about Sale-A-Bration HERE
For this blog hop, we were to create two cards. I decided to use the Awesome Otters stamp set (SAB) and create two cards with TOTALLY different looks. The Designer Series Paper I used on both cards (Sunshine & Rainbows and Simply Marbelous) can also be earned for free with a qualifying (min. $50) order during Sale-A-Bration. I actually used the same basic measurements on both cards, just changed up the focal images a bit. Two cards, two completely different looks! Which one is your favorite?  Bright Stripes or Soft & Subtle?

All of the measurements for my project are listed below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this blog post.
Color Combo:
This little otter has his hat on and is ready to party! I decided to add a couple more embellishments because if you thought an otter with a party hat was cute, he only gets more fabulous with a bow tie and a balloon.

The balloon image is from the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set and the coordinating Birthday Chick Dies coordinate perfectly to not only cut out the balloon but also the cut out that adorable little bow tie. It's the perfect size for this little guy, don't you think?
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Polished Pink Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Night of Navy Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration): 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Polished Pink Cardstock: 3” x 4-1/4”
  • Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration): 3-1/8 x” 4-3/8”
  • Polished Pink Cardstock: die cut one 2-1/2” scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: die cut one 2-3/8" circle from the Layering Circles Dies. Stamp the otter image in Momento ink and die cut. Color image using Stampin’ Blends.
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock: die cut the bow-tie from the Birthday Chick Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: scraps to stamp the party hat and balloon (from Hey, Birthday Chick stamp set). Color with Stampin’ Blends and accent with Wink of Stella. Die cut Balloon with the Birthday Chick Dies.
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-1/8” x 1/4”, stamp sentiment in Momento ink and banner punch either end using the Tailored Tag Punch
  • White Organdy Ribbon (adhere behind scalloped circle) and accent with Basic Rhinestones
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Sunshine & Rainbows DSP (inside card, SAB): 1/2” x 5-1/8”
Here is a look inside the card. I kept it simple and added a little pop of rainbow pattern. I stamped one additional party hat inside…just because. I figure I can add a sentiment later or just leave the space for a handwritten note.
Color Combo:
My second card shares a totally different look with the Awesome Otters stamp set. I decided to use the Simply Marbelous 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper to create the “water” background. I love the detail this paper adds to cards. The shading is so pretty and didn’t require any extra work on my part. Gotta love that, right?

I colored the image with Stampin’ Blends markers. I stamped the otter once on the circle and once on scrap paper. I fussy-cut the second otter and popped him up over the otter stamped on the circle for some extra dimension. It's a little tough to see in the photos but adds awesome dimension to the card "in person". The little fish is colored with a combo of Just Jade and Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • Balmy Blue Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • So Saffron Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, emboss using Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder
  • So Saffron Cardstock: die cut one 2-1/2” scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock: die cut one 2-3/8 circle from the Layering Circles Dies. Stamp the otter in Momento ink and color using Stampin’ Blends.
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp an additional otter image in Momento Ink. Fussy-cut around edges and adhere over the stamped image on the circle die with Stamp Dimensionals. Color with Stampin’ Blends.
  • So Saffron Cardstock: Stamp sentiment in Momento ink and die cut the stitched banner from the Tasteful Labels Dies
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card) 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp otter in Momento ink and color with Stampin’ Blends
  • Simply Marbelous DSP (Sale-A-Bration): 3/4” x 5-1/4”
Finally, a peek inside the card. I added a simple strip of DSP and stamped a little “jazz hands” otter in the bottom corner. This card would work for a lot of different occasions, so I left off the inside sentiment for now. I figure I’ll just stamp it as I need it…or just leave it blank for a handwritten message.

I hope you enjoyed these projects today! Please continue along on the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop to check out more awesome creative inspiration.
