Happiness Abounds Tic-Tac-Toe for PP593

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Ann is hosting our Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge
Tic-Tac-Toe Selection: Embossing - Floral - Pearls

Since it’s the fifth week of the month, it’s time for a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge! I love these challenge because there are SO many choices to inspire your creative mojo. Simply pick a row, across, down or diagonally and create a card with those elements. Easy, peasy! Sometimes I like to challenge myself to do ALL of the squares on one card but that was going to be a pretty lofty feat with this board, haha! I selected my three squares and got busy creating!

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:

Soooo, I know for last week’s challenge at The Paper Players, my card featured the Happiness Abounds stamp set and coordinating Blossoming Happiness Dies. Well, guess what? They haven’t left my desk since and I literally CAN’T stop using this bundle. So ta-dah, I’m using it again for this week’s challenge! :)

I really wanted to use the detailed background die somehow and that was how this card got started. After I cut out the pattern on a layer of Basic White, I also added the “notebook” edge on the left side for an extra detail. I also cut out the flowers and leaves from the Hues Of Happiness Designer Series Paper. I just love that the paper coordinates perfectly with the dies…it doesn’t get any easier than that!

I wanted some contrast on the background of the card, so I added some So Saffron ink with a Blending Brush so the color could be seen when the smaller detailed layer was added. Then I added some texture by embossing the layer with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. I felt like the background needed “just a little more” (famous last words, right?) detail, so I flicked some ink “splatters” using a Light Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends marker along with some sparkly splatter with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush. The sparkle is tough to see in the photos but it really looks awesome in person! I like how the splattered detail compliments the center of the larger floral image and really added some extra interest to the background.
Card Measurements & Details:
  • So Saffron Card Base: 4-1/4”  x 11", scored at 5-1/2”
  • Pear Pizzazz Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4"
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, emboss with Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder, add So Saffron ink with a Blending Brush and flick “speckles” of Soft Suede Light Stampin’ Blends Marker and Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for background detail
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2-7/8” x 4-1/2”, die cut background image and notebook edge using Blooming Happiness Dies
  • Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper: die cut flowers and leaves from coordinating pattern
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2-1/4” x 1/2, stamp sentiment in Soft Suede ink and snip right side at an angle
  • Linen Thread and Iridescent Basic Pearls
  • Basic White Cardsotck (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment and floral images in Soft Suede ink and color with Stampin’ Blends
Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I stamped a coordinating sentiment along with a couple small floral images. I colored the flowers with So Saffron (dark), Old Olive (light) and Soft Suede (light) Stampin’ blends to bring the colors from the front of the card to the inside. I just love how this card came out and I hope you do as well!
