Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players!
This week, Claire is hosting our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Challenge.
Ahh, Clean-and-Simple week, we meet again. Haha! This week always earns me a ride on the "struggle bus"…although I have to admit, I’m getting better. (I think, anyway.) Can you believe in this vast creative wasteland of a stamp studio, I discovered that I don't have ONE scarecrow stamp? I KNOW, I was shocked as well. So leaves it was for this challenge! I don’t mind at all because I just love the changing colors in the Fall season.
You would never know it is Fall here in south Texas though, we are still holding on strong to those mid-90 degree temps. Anyone with cooler temps looking for a houseguest? I’m a pretty good cook and a lot of fun to craft with…just saying! ;)
*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
I decided to use the Soft Seedlings stamp set from the Stampin’ Up!® July-December Mini Catalog for my card. One of the things I love about the images in this set is that they are considered “Dist-INK-tive” meaning they are meant to stamp in different opacities to create a lot of depth and almost a realistic dimension to the images.
I used Sponge Daubers and Classic Stampin’ Pads to add ink to the image. This gave me the ability to add lots of depth of color to the images. I started by adding Old Olive to the stems. Then I worked from light to dark when adding shading to the leaves, using Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry. I love how it turned out! I also added some stitched detail around the edges with the Stitched with Whimsy Dies for some added interest in lieu of another layer. At the very end, I added a little Crumb Cake ink around the edges with a Sponge Dauber. In retrospect, I probably would have left that step off if I made the card again…but it was too late to start over. Hopefully it still works with the Autumn vibe!
Card Measurements & Details:
- Cajun Craze Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
- Basic White Cardstock: 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”, use Sponge Daubers to ink up images using Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin’ Pads. Color stems in with Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
- After stamping on Basic White layer, add the stitched border with the Stitched with Whimsy Dies then add some Cumb Cake ink around the edges with a Sponge Dauber.
- Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack (Crumb Cake)
- Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”, stamp two images
Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I simply stamped a couple of the stamped images inked up with Sponge Daubers. Just add a handwritten note and it’s ready to pop in the mail!
I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Scarecrows and/or Leaves Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday September 23rd, 2022.

ReplyDeleteYour CAS creation is just perfect, Anne Marie! Those leaves look so REAL, you've daubered them perfectly! Right now our leaves are just brown and boring, hopefully we'll see some like yours soon!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stamping! Love your gorgeous leaves!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Anne Marie! Love the multicolored leaves and the stitched border. It just got cooler in southern Germany this week, I was starting to think that fall would never get here! The leaves should start changing colors in the next few weeks and I do have a guest room ; )
ReplyDeleteYou are totally getting the hang of this CAS thing Anne Marie - your autumn leaves and seeds are lovely! I don't have any scarecrow stamps either - and you are welcome to escape the heat to mine anytime, although maybe a swap is more in order - I love the heat of summer!
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie - gorgeous. I love the soft sponging it adds a watercolor feel. Fabulous CAS card!
