Waterfront for PP647

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a fun new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, LeAnne is hosting our Theme Challenge.
Can you believe it’s already July? I feel like this year is going by so quickly. Summer is in full swing here in Texas with triple digit temps, so LeAnne’s “At the Beach” Theme Challenge was perfect. Even though I won’t actually be AT the beach until later on this month, this challenge had me dreaming of ocean waves and sandy toes right now! I sure hope you will take this challenge for a spin and join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared a full supply list of products used to create this card at the very end of this post.
Color Combo:
As I was perusing my shelves to see what stamps I had for the theme, I stopped on the Waterfront stamp set. I’ve had this set for quite a while and it’s never seen an ink pad. Can you believe it? I’m always a little intimidated with watercolor images, I don’t know why. I think the layering of these images scared me but they were actually pretty easy stamp together. I got this image on the second try, which is a pretty big deal around here. Haha!

I stamped the scene on a Deckled Rectangle Die and added some texture to the Crumb Cake background with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. It has a cool sandy texture in-person.

For the “sky”…I initially stamped the entire image in Daffodil Delight, then added Pumpkin Pie ink to the stamp with a Sponge Dauber. I didn’t realize how heavy-handed I was with the ink but I really liked how the dauber made the background look like clouds, so I just went with it. In the words of Bob Ross: “We don’t have mistakes, we have happy accidents.” :-)
The sentiment on this card comes from the Let’s Go Shopping stamp set. It really works perfectly for this card, right. Honestly, hadn't been sitting on the corner of my desk from last week’s challenge, I probably never would have never thought to look at this set for a sentiment.

I used the All That Dies to cut out the sentiment and added a “faux” Linen Thread bow for some more texture. Finally, I added a trio of Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels for a subtle accent. These are my favorite embellishments when I can’t decide on an embellishment. They aren’t too much, they just give a tiny pop of detail, which I love. I really like how this card came together and I hope you do as well.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our ”At the Beach” Theme ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 7th, 2023
