Bee My Valentine for PP674

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Jaydee is hosting my favorite challenge of every month, our Sketch Challenge.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to make a slimline card. The card base is 11” x 7”, scored at 3-1/2”. I think I’ve only ever made one card in that style before and I really do enjoy them. I like that there is a lot more room to create within and this sketch certainly offers up a lot of “card real estate” if you will. Plus, the repeated elements in an odd number just make my heart happy. It’s those little things! This is a really fun sketch that I know I’ll be using again and again. I sure hope you will join us over at The Paper Players. We’d love to see what YOU create!

*I’ve shared a full supply list of products used to create this card at the end of this post.

Color Combo:
As I looked through my supplies to decide what to create with, I almost immediately knew that the cutie-patootie bees from the Bee My Valentine Bundle was going to be the winner. There is something about these chunky little bees that just make me happy. I especially love that you can stamp their little expressions on their faces. You can’t have happy bees without little rosy cheeks, which was easy to add with a Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Blends marker.

I decided to ground these flying friends on the small rectangles from the Perennial Postage Dies. I think the detail around the edges really pops. My bees ended up being “antennae-less” and I think that’s ok. I just couldn’t make them fit on the second and forth bee, so to compensate every bee got a little heart instead. Haha!

I added some Wink of Stella to the hearts and bee wings for some added detail that really stands out “in-person”. The heat embossed sentiment also adds a fun shiny accent. I opted to skip any ribbon or embellishments because I really didn’t  think the card needed them. These happy bees are all the buzz on this card, for sure!

Finally, here is a peek inside the card! I fussy-cut two honey jars and a bitty bee from the Designer Series Paper and added a sentiment from the Perennial Postage stamp set. (I think I forgot to list it in the supply list below…oops!) I just think this is a fun card to send to a friend to brighten their day, don’t you?

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Sketch ChallengeWe’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday February 2nd, 2024
