July 2021 - Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop

Hello stamping friends! Today, I am SO excited to share my projects with you for the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop. We are an awesome group of stampers from all over the world who come together on the second Wednesday of every month to share some creative inspiration and smiles from around the globe. You will definitely want to visit everyone to see their amazing projects. We hope you enjoy hopping along with us this month!

If this is the first time you are visiting my blog, I’m Anne Marie Hile from San Antonio, TX and I’m so happy you stopped by today. Welcome!

Our theme for the month is “CAS(E) the Designer” and it’s going to be fun! We are focusing on sharing projects inspired by another team member on the blog hop.

My team member to CAS(E) or "copy and share" is the fabulous Brenda Nelson. You know, THE Stampin’ Up!® Artisan Design Team Member Brenda Nelson? Sure, no pressure there. *gasp* I have to admit, this was a little intimidating but I’m a HUGE fan of Brenda’s work, so I decided to have some fun with it!

***All of the supplies I used to create these cards are listed at the end of this post.
Let me tell you, when it came time to select one of Brenda’s projects to CASE, I had a hard time narrowing it down. Brenda has such a distinctive clean design, I love pretty much everything she creates. I finally narrowed down my project to THREE different cards and this is the one that won me over. I LOVE the monochromatic color combo, the clean design and that fabulous ribbon treatment. You can see all of the details on her original card HERE.
Although the monochromatic color combo caught my eye on Brenda’s card, I decided to work with a rainbow of colors on my CASE card. If you have ever visited me before you know that bright and happy colors just make me…well, HAPPY! I also love using up my scraps. Let’s be honest, y’all. You know you have lots of scraps of cardstock and patterned paper in your craft room. This is such a fun layout to showcase some fun colors behind the die cut image. I used 1/4” strips and I just love the awesome pop of color they added to my card!
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Daffodil Delight Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2” and folded in half
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”, die cut star from Stitched Stars Dies
  • Scraps of Melon Mambo, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape Cardstock cut into 1/4” strips (add Wink of Stella for added sparkle)
  • Basic White Cardstock: 2” x 1/2”, stamp sentiment in Momento ink and snip both ends at an angle
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4, stamp sentiment in Momento ink and stamp heart in Melon Mambo ink
  •  Scraps of Melon Mambo, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape Cardstock cut into 1/4” strips, add to corners of Basic White Cardstock inside card
Finally a peek inside the card. I used another sentiment from the In Symmetry stamp set along with a little heart image. The 1/4” strips of cardstock in each corner are easy-peasy and really add a fun pop of color to "keep the party going" to the inside of the card.

In keeping with the original elements, I decided to create a second card using the same "scrappy-strip” layout but this time I used a trio of circles from the Layering Circles Dies on the card front. The flowers from the Pierced Blooms Dies were not originally part of the card, but I had an “oopsie” around one of the circles and needed a fix. So, it turned into THIS. It’s a LOT, I know. I really wanted to use the ribbon treatment on Brenda’s original card and this is how it turned out. I almost didn’t share it, but then I decided to anyway. Embrace that creative inspiration because I truly believe that we create from the heart, even if it isn’t perfect every time!
This card is kind of “extra” but so is the person I’m giving it too. That is totally said with love and an inside joke we have. If you have ever visited a Chipotle restaurant (maybe it’s just here in the US) you know that “guac (-amole) is extra” as far as the price. My friend who I’m sending this card to and I have a little joke “guac is extra, but so are we!” I know this card will bring a big smile and that’s what I was going for.

I hope you enjoyed these projects today! From here, you will hop on over to Brenda Nelson’s blog. Click the button below to check out her beautiful project!

Positive Inkers Global Design Team - July 2021

Hello there and Happy July to you! I’m thrilled to be blog hopping today with the Positive Inkers Global Design TeamWe are a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the globe who are super-excited to share our love of creativity. I’m so happy you stopped by today!

If this is the fist time you are visiting, please let me introduce myself. My name is Anne Marie Hile and I live in San Antonio, Texas. Welcome!
Our theme this month is: A Splash of Color. As soon as I saw the theme, I was instantly inspired to create projects that were mostly black and white with a POP of color. I think it is going to be fun to see how everyone on the blog hop was inspired by this challenge, too.

Color Combo:

I decided to use the fabulous Color and Contour stamp set, coordinating Scalloped Contour Dies and the Host Exclusive Pattern Party Designer Series Paper. This pack of paper is so awesome, I can’t seem to stop using it. It features a fun mix of patterns that coordinate with so many products in the Stampin’ Up!® Annual catalog and has LOTS of black and white patterns, which make it really versatile for so many projects. This DSP can be purchased as a Host reward when you have a minimum $150 order.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my cards below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
If you have ever visited me before, it will come as no surprise that I selected Polished Pink as my “Splash of Color”! There is a 90% chance that if I’m given the choice to select a color, it will be come from the pink family. Well, maybe not 90%…but pretty close. Haha!

For my first card, I went with a trio of bold blossoms on the mix of patterned DSP. I just love that the flowers have a hand-drawn look and they are so easy to fill with another stamp. Of course, everything is better with some sparkle, so I added Wink of Stella to the flower centers, a trio of rhinestones and some glittered organdy ribbon.
Card Measurements and Details:
  • Basic Black Card Base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Polished Pink Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (Host Exclusive, lined pattern): 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (Host Exclusive, dot pattern): 3-1/4” x 4-1/4”
  • Vellum Cardstock: die cut three floral images from Scalloped Contour Dies, accent with Wink of Stella
  • Basic White Cardstock: scrap to stamp three floral image “outlines" in Momento ink, stamp the floral “filler” image in Polished Pink ink, color the flower centers with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends and accent centers with Wink of Stella. Die cut using Scalloped Contour Dies.
  • Polished Pink Cardstock: scrap to die cut the scalloped frame, stamp sentiment in Momento ink and add some scraps of Basic White Cardstock on the back of the frame to “fill in” the polka dots
  • Basic White Cardstock (inside card): 4” x 5-1/4”, stamp sentiment and floral image
  • Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (Host Exclusive, lined pattern): 3/4” x 5-1/4”
Here is a look inside the card. I added a “thank you" sentiment, another stamped flower and a little strip of DSP to “keep the party going” from the front of the card. I can’t wait to send this off in the mail to someone special this week!
I didn’t originally intend to make a second card but was having so much fun I just kept going. I just recently purchased the Color and Contour Bundle, so I haven’t really had a chance to break it in yet. I used some different stamps from the set along with the same patterns and colors as the first card for a different look. The Scalloped Contour Dies are great for cutting out the stamped images but also offer lots of sixes of scalloped rectangles along with that fabulous scalloped border die. I have a feeling I’ll be using these dies a LOT!
