CAS Mixed Bunch for Paper Players #236

Hello there! This week at The Paper Players, my friend Ann Schach has a fabulous challenge for us. It's Clean and Simple week and we are focusing on a floral theme. So perfect for Spring, don you think?
I was determined to use a lot of white space on this card, something I tend to struggle with. I decided that the big, bold blossom from the SU Mixed Bunch set was going to be the focus for my card with a fun sentiment from My Favorite Things. I needed a card to send to a friend I haven't connected with in a while, so this was perfect. I added some leaves from the Bird Builder Punch for dimension and a big honkin' rhinestone for sparkle.

Still, I felt that the card needed just a wee bit more, so I went over to my washi tape collection and grabbed a couple of rolls that would coordinate with the card colors. I am absolutely obsessed with washi tape right now...it's really bad. I think at last count, I have over 130 rolls. I guess I need to start using it on my cards more. What crafting supplies do you hoard?
Please join us over at The Paper Players
The challenge will close Friday March 20th at Noon (PST).

Mixed Bunch Mother's Day for Paper Players #194

Hello stampers! Whew, what a weekend! I'm running a little behind with my Design Team card for the Paper Players challenge...but here is it. This week at the Paper Players, the lovely Jaydee is our hostess with a Mother's Day theme challenge. Perfect to get those cards made and mailed just in time for Mother's Day!
I received a brand new box of Stampin' Up! goodies from the upcoming catalog last Friday and couldn't wait to use some of them on this card! Two of those colors on the card are the all new 2014-2015 In Colors: Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey. Aren't they pretty? The Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack is also brand new along with the Stitched Satin Ribbon. All the other products are listed on the table below.

Of course, I added a bunch of layers to this card, because I really wanted to showcase the colors. Also, I really like to make sure every card I make requires a ton of extra postage to mail. Haha! I am "layer-obsessed" sometimes. I completely admit it.
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, May 9th, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week. Have a great day!

CAS Mixed Bunch for Paper Players #187

Hello there stampers! Hope you are having a great day so far. This week Jaydee is our hostess over at the Paper Players with a Clean and Simple Spring card challenge. Jaydee is truly the Queen of CAS cards. She has a way of doing "more with less". I always over-do CAS cards, it seems. I have really been trying to "clean up my act" and not stress about them when I make them. That was my approach for my card for the challenge. Thank goodness it wasn't a one-layer card challenge or I would have REALLY been in trouble. Haha!
The layout was inspired by one I saw on my stamping pal Lesley's blog: The Challenge. Any layout that has elements repeated in "threes" always catches my eye. I decided to use two stamp sets I rarely ink up and picked out a fun spring trio of colors. It is not a complicated card but I really like how it came out. The colors really pop and I am going to be able to pop it in the mail using only one stamp! Whoot!
Here are the products I used to create my card:
  • Mixed Bunch Stamp Set
  • Sweet Essentials Stamp Set
  • Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (Sale-A-Bration item)
  • 1" Circle Punch
  • Banner Punch (Sale-A-Bration item)
  • Basic Rhinestones
  • Classic Stamp Pads in Rose Red, Gumball Green and Wisteria Wonder
  • Card stock in Whisper White and Rose Red
Please join us over at the Paper Players The challenge is open through Friday, March 21st, 2014 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Mixed Bunch for Paper Players #164

Hello there! Hope you are having a great day so far. The weather has finally cooled off here and it is starting to feel like Fall. Hooray! This week at the Paper Players, the lovely and talented Sandy has a fun sketch challenge for us. I accidentally set my post to go live at 7:00PM Sunday night, instead of 7:00AM Sunday morning. Yikes! I guess I was pretty tired when I was typing this up. Anyhoo, Sandy's sketch is pretty awesome, so I hope you will join us this week and play along.
I took a pretty literal interpretation of the sketch using the big, bold blossom from the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the patterns in the Gingham Garden DSP. I love the colors together, too. They are really cheery, don't you think? I popped up all of the layers on the card and added a couple pops of bling to finish it off. All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of the post.
Please join us over at the Paper Players The challenge is open through Friday, September 27th, 2013 at Noon (PDT). Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.

Before I go, I wanted to share a photo of the cutest puppy ever! She is our newest foster dog (our beautiful Violet left for her new home a couple weeks ago). This little bundle of Schnauzer cuteness is Sabrina. She is 3 months old and will be headed to her new home in Minnesota in the second week in October. She is absolutely adorable! Have a great day today! :)

Mixed Bunch Thank You for Dynamic Duos #64

Hello there! Hope you are having a great day so far! This week at Dynamic Duos, we are featuring a "Bold and Sassy" color combo that I just love: Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight.  Talk about a happy color combo! We hope you will join us and play along.
I was inspired by the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and as soon as I saw the layout, I decided to use a set I haven't brought out in a while: Mixed Bunch. I love that the set has a coordinating punch, too. It really makes it easy to add extra dimension to your project.
I added a pop of pattern with the Gingham Garden Washi Tape and Gingham Garden DSP. Ok, I know that the patterned paper is "technically" Melon Mambo but I held it up to both Melon Mambo AND Strawberry Slush and it seemed to work better with Strawberry Slush. Or maybe I just need glasses. LOL! Either way, I used it. The complete supply list is at the end of this post.
Please pop on over to the the Dynamic Duos page and join us! The challenge is open through Thursday August 8th, until Noon (PDT). Be sure to stop by and visit our fabulous Design Team members, too
...and me!

Have a HAPPY day! :)

Spring Has Sprung at The Paper Players

It's Sunday and over at The Paper Players, the lovely Jaydee is our hostess this week and she has a fun new challenge for us. Although nice weather not the case everywhere...spring has definitely sprung here in Texas. The weather has been wonderful here over the past couple of days....windows open, temps in the mid-70's, lots of sunshine. I know we won't be celebrating that in July when it is 110 degrees, so time to enjoy it while we can.
So, here is my card. The layout was inspired by an older sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping that I jotted down a while ago. Love their sketches! The color combo is Pool Party, So Saffron and Blushing Bride. The colors reminded me of spring. (...and for some reason I am on a kick with using yellow lately)

I stamped and embossed one of the flower images from the Mixed Bunch stamp set, then embossed some vellum with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I punched out three flowers with the coordinating Blossom punch then decorated the flower center. This flower has a lot of dimension "in-person" and was pretty simple to create. I made a bunch of these cards for my swaps with the Stamping Divas this month, as well.
I hope you can join us this week over at the Paper Players with your card celebrating the spring season. Please stop by and visit the rest of the gals on the Design Team to see what they have shared. We also are welcoming some new DT members this week, which is really exciting:

Before I go, I wanted to share a few photos. I'm having fun scrapbooking with Becky Higgins' Project Life this year and am determined to snap more photos to document everyday happenings. First up, here is Benjamin Maxwell exploring the yard. He is an indoor kitty, but every once in a while he gets a "supervised" backyard romp.
Next, I was fortunate enough to snap a shot of these sweet deer in the woods behind my house, last week. My Schnauzer, Emmmitt, is fascinated with the deer and likes to sneak under the fence to chase them so we have to keep a close eye on him when they are in the area.
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a HAPPY day,

Bright and Happy New Year at OCC

Hi there and Happy New Year's Eve to you! (albeit a little late in the day...guess who forgot to schedule her blog post to go live this morning?) Well, another week has passed during this busy holiday season and it's time for a new challenge at Our Creative Corner. I am the hostess this week with a "Color and Theme challenge":
"Bright and Happy New Year" -
It's time to ring in 2012! Create a card for a CELEBRATION using this color combo. There are so many occasions that call for a celebration ...New Year's, birthday cards, congratulations...just to name a few. Have some fun with these bright and happy colors!

I decided to create a birthday card with some new SU! goodies that are coming out in the Occasions Mini Catty starting January 4th. This post is a little "sneaky-peeky". The flower is stamped from the new Mixed Bunch stamp set, which has a coordinating punch. (Hooray!) The striped DSP is from the Spring Fever Simply Scrappin' Kit. My favorite product in the new Mini HAS to be the Pleated Satin Ribbon. It comes in 4 colors and is sooo pretty! I have a feeling I will be using a LOT of it!

I embossed the stamped flower in Clear Embossing Powder on Melon Mambo card stock. The center of the flower is a punched 3/4" circle dressed up with a bunch of Basic Rhinestones that I colored with markers. I popped up all of the layers of the flower with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Finally, here is the inside of the card:
Thanks for stopping by today! If you have a chance this week, we hope you can play along over at Our Creative Corner. The lovely ladies on the Design Team have created some beautiful projects for inspiration, too. Be sure to check them out. Have fun ringing in the New Year tonight!

Happy 2012! :)
