Painted Harvest for PP462

Hello and Happy Sunday!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, the lovely and talented Joanne is our hostess and she has a wonderful Theme Challenge for us. As soon as I saw this challenge, I immediately knew I wanted to use one of my favorite stamp sets: Painted Harvest

What do I love about this stamp set? Well, basically EVERYTHING! This is one of those stamp sets that really comes to life when you add ink. It’s a “two step” stamp set which means that you basically use two (or more) stamps to create one image. It adds amazing texture and dimension to the image without having to do any super-fancy techniques. Just inks and paper, it couldn’t be easier. I just love the detail in the floral images, don’t you?

Color Combo:

For the flowers, I stamped the first “base” flower in Crushed Curry on Very Vanilla Cardstock and then layered the second, more detailed image, in Cajun Craze ink. You don’t have to line the images up perfectly either, that is another thing I love about this set. I popped in some leafy images between the flowers using Pear Pizzazz for the first stamp and then Old Olive on the second stamp to bring out the detail. Lastly, I stamped the floral centers in Early Espresso ink and topped it off with some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for a pop of sparkle.
After the images were stamped, I then embossed the Very Vanilla Cardstock using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder. It adds that fun, rustic texture but still keeps the stamped images the star of the card. Then, I used a Stamping Sponge with Crumb Cake ink to shade around the edges and over the texture to add a little bit of a weathered look. Next,  I used my Crumb Cake marker to add in some little “speckles” over the entire images. To do this, you just flick the tip of the marker against the cap of the marker to create those little “speckled” details all over the cardstock. It’s a subtle detail but really adds so much.

I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink  on Very Vanilla Cardstock and then used the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut it out. I sponged some Crumb Cake ink around the edges to keep the “ istressed" detail going. For some final touches, I popped in some Cajun Craze twine and colored a trio of Rhinestones using the Dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Card Measurements:
  • Cajun Craze Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Early Espresso Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock (stamped, then embossed with Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder) - 3-3/4” x 5”
  • Scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock for Stitched Rectangle die cut
  • Very Vanilla (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
Finally, here is a quick peek inside the card with a coordinating sentiment and another one of those beautiful flowers. The sentiment is a little off-center, but shhh, it’s handmade, so it just adds to the charm, right?

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project with our ”Grateful / Thankful for You Theme Challenge". We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday October 11th, 2019.

Painted Harvest Sketch for PP416

It’s Sunday and time for another weekly challenge over at The Paper Players. This week I am hosting and I have a SKETCH Challenge, which are my favorite challenges. They are a great starting point to get the creativity flowing. When I came up with this layout, I thought it would be fun to showcase different patterns of Designer Series Paper, so that’s what my plan was when I created my card.
Y’all know I love LOTS of layers, but you can use as few or as many layers as you’d like on your project. You can also flip the sketch or turn it on it’s side…have some fun with it!
I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
I just love the Frosted Floral Designer Series paper. It has a really pretty pearlized finish on it which makes it extra fancy. I actually do not have the coordinating stamp set (yet) that coordinates with this paper, so I used a sentiment from the Painted Harvest stamp set for the card. I really like the font on the sentiment, don’t you. It’s tough to see in the photo, but I stamped it on Shimmer White Cardstock to go with the shimmer in the DSP. I also added some texture with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder and finally opened up the Frosted Epoxy Droplets as a finishing touch. They are SO pretty!

 Card Measurements:

  • Gray Granite Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Soft Suede Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Tranquil Tide Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Gray Granite Cardstock (behind DSP) - 2-7/8” x 4-5/8” and 1-7/8” x 4-1/8”
  • Frosted Floral DSP - 2-3/4” x 4-1/2”  and 1-3/4” x 4"

Finally, a quick shot of the inside of the card. I used a little more of the DSP along with some floral images from the Love What You Do stamp set.

Won’t you join us and share your project this week?
You can link up your project through Friday November 2nd, 2018 at Noon PST.
All of the details can be found over at The Paper Players

Painted Harvest and Shimmer Paints

Hello and Happy Saturday to you! I wanted to share two of the cards I created for my Facebook Live Video that I shared yesterday. On the video I shared 7 different techniques to use with the new Shimmer Paints that will be coming out in the Stampin’ Up! ® Holiday Catalog on September 5th. There are 4 colors of Shimmer Paint in the catalog: Frost White, Champagne Mist, Vegas Gold and Bright Copper. Over the next week, I will be sharing projects using these paints from the techniques in my video. I just love these paints and there is SO much you can do with them!

Also in this video, I shared how I stamped the sunflower images on the card above.

I used the beautiful Painted Harvest stamp set for this technique, in which I applied the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to a stamped background using Sponge Daubers. I added the paint, with a slightly thicker application to the centers of the sunflowers and then very lightly applied some paint around the images in the "white space.” It really makes the card pop!

I also added some Soft Suede ink around the edges of the stamped images and then used a Soft Suede Marker to “flick” a little ink around the images to give it a more rustic feel. I kept the embellishments to a minimum because I really think the details in the stamped image were the star of the show.

Here are the measurements for the card:
  • Old Olive Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 2-1/2” x 5-1/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (for inside of card) - 4” x 5-1/4"

I stamped the images on the inside of the card as we’ll and then only added the Shimmer Paint to the centers of the flowers. Always remember to give the inside of your cards a little stampin’ love. It makes a big difference.
The second card I made focused on creating a beautiful background using the stamps. Again I added the Shimmer Paint with the Sponge Dauber to the centers of the flowers and in all of the white apace between the images. There is a lot more of shimmer overall and I just love showcasing the stamps like this. I added a button, a little pop of linen twine, 2 leaves from the Leaf Punch and a simple sentiment on the stitched banner from the new Farmhouse Framelits Dies.

Here are the measurements for this card:
  • Soft Suede Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Crushed Curry Cardstock - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 5” x 3-3/4"

I hope you enjoyed these cards featuring Shimmer Paint. Be sure to stop back by soon because I have many more projects to share with the remaining 6 techniques I featured in the video. I’ve got a lot to share with you in the next couple of days.
