Gingham Gala Daisy for PP436

Hello Stamping Friends! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far. It’s Sunday and that means we have another weekly challenge over at The Paper Players. This week, it’s LeAnne’s turn to host and she has a great Theme Challenge: focus your project around Plaid or Checks. We hope you will join us!
I also wanted to play along with the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge, as well. You just can’t go wrong with starting with a fantastic sketch for your cards. The FMS team always has amazing creative inspiration, so check them out.
The inspiration for my card was a little unusual this week. As I sat down to create, my eye was drawn to a little tube of hand cream I have in my craft room. Working with paper, hand cream is an essential item in here to keep my hands from drying out. The color combo on the packaging instantly got my wheels turning, so I pulled out the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog) and the Daisy Punch. You just never know where you will find creative inspiration. CLICK HERE if you’d like to take a peek at the hand cream I found at Target. Ps: it smells really good, too!

 Today’s Colors

This card came together easily and there is very minimal stamping. Hooray for easy, right? I wanted the gingham paper to be the superstar, as it is the focus of the theme challenge. The simple stamped sentiment is from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.

For the flower, I punched out 2 of the daisies from the Gingham Gala DSP and then punched another daisy out of vellum. I used the 3/4” Circle Punch for the flower center. Then, I added some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the center of the flower and on the punched vellum daisy for some sparkly detail. I layered up the daisies and the circle punch adding a Stampin’ Dimensional between each layer to really make the flower pop. Finally, I added a little bow to the center of the flower, because it looked a little “naked” to me without it…and because it was sitting on my desk unused from another project. :)

Card Measurements:
  • Balmy Blue Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 4-1/8”
  • Balmy Blue Cardstock (embossed with Striped Scallops) - 3” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (for sentiment) - 5/8” x 2-1/8”
  • Daffodil Delight Cardstock (behind banner) -  scrap

As always, here is a look inside the card. As this card wasn’t really for a specific occasion, I just added a little pop of the Gingham Gala DSP and a stamped image from the Daisy Delight Stamp set. I forgot to add to the supply table at the end of this post, so CLICK HERE for more information about that stamp set.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share a project using the color challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday April 12th, 2019.

Bloom By Bloom Birthday for Festive Friday FF0031

Hi there stamping friends! It’s Friday and I have some news. I am SO  excited to share that I am now part of the Festive Friday Challenge Design Team! If you are unfamiliar with the Festive Friday Challenge, it is a bi-weekly challenge blog developed to celebrate and be inspired by all sorts of traditional, and unusual holidays! In addition to the holiday, there is an “and/or” element that can be incorporated into your project. You can create with the holiday, the additional element…or BOTH! I love the versatility of these challenges so much and am thrilled to be creating alongside these amazing gals.
Starting today and running through April 15th (ugh taxes, shh!) we have an Earth Day and/or Rainbow challenge to inspire your creativity. I immediately gravitated to the rainbow element. I am such a fan of bright and happy colors and any chance to add a LOT of them to a project always makes my heart happy.
When it comes to cheerful cards, the Stampin’ Up! Bloom By Bloom stamp set came to mind right away. I just love those bold blossoms! I don’t know if the flowers would work for Earth Day. I mean, flowers grow in the earth, right? That might be a stretch. Let’s just say I’m going with the rainbow element for this challenge.

Today’s Colors:

So, let’s talk about the card. It came together really easily using the floral image and a few layered punches. I punched the flower using the 1” Circle Punch and then layered it on a 1-1/8” Scalloped Circle punch. The centers of the flowers were punched from the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack, along with those little “accent” flowers.

The Polka Dots Basics Embossing Folder coordinates with the circle punch and added a pop of texture to the clean background. I also added LOTS of Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop all of the punched pieces up on the card. For the flower “centers” I actually cut a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional into 4 pieces. It’s a mini-itty-bitty Stampin’ Dimensional. I probably could have just stuck it down with a glue dot, but I like the added texture. I’ve listed a link to all of these products at the end of the post.

Card Measurements:
  • Pineapple Punch Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Basic Black Cardstock - 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (using Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (for stamped/punched sentiment) - 1/2” x 2-1/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
Because you just can't go wrong with sparkle, I used the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the punched centers of the flowers and brushed to the little punched out flowers. It’s a subtle detail but really adds a lot of extra detail “in-person”. The sentiments are from the Varied Vases stamp set.
Now, you can’t have that much cheer on the front of your card and NOT jazz up the inside, right? I decided to add another rainbow of stamped flowers to the inside with a coordinating sentiment. Oooh, this card just makes me happy! I hope you love it, too.

So, what do you say? Would you like to join us and share a project? You can check out the Festive Friday Challenge HERE. You can enter your project for this challenge through Monday April 15th at 8pm CST.
