Third Thursdays Blog Hop May 2019

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Make NEW Friends But Keep the OLD. Everyone on the hop will be featuring products that will be RETIRING from our catalogs on June 3, 2019 and/or NEW products from the  Stampin' Up!® 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.

Today I am featuring one of my all-time favorite stamp sets Coffee Café. This stamp set also coordinates with the Coffee Cups Dies and sadly both will be retiring on June 3rd. I use this set a LOT!  If you like this set as much as I do, hop on over to my Stampin’ Up!® Online store to buy it while you still can. There is a link to my store at the end of this post, after the blog roll.
I came up with a fun little treat box and matching 3” x 3” note card. The treat box holds a Starbucks® VIA Instant Vanilla Latte packet. I picked these up at my local Target. The box contains 5 packets and they are larger than the “typical” VIA packets. These measure about 6-1/4” tall, so I created a fun little custom box that fits them perfectly. Keep on reading for the measurements and instructions to assemble the box.
To decorate the box, I also pulled out two different Designer Series Paper packs that I’m trying to showcase before they retire: Brights 6” x 6” DSP and Wood Textures DSP. Both of these paper packs are favorites of mine, especially the beloved Wood Textures, which unfortunately is already sold out.
The Wood Textures DSP adds just a little extra interest to the coffee cup so it wasn’t just plain ol’ cardstock, but you could always add some sponged ink on the edges of cardstock to give a similar “weathered look.”

I used the packaging of the Starbucks VIA latte packet as inspiration for the color combo but wanted a pop of something a little bit brighter to liven things up a bit. That’s where Poppy Parade came in. I almost grabbed Melon Mambo, but that would be predictable for me as pink is always my go-to color. I’m trying to branch out. Tee Hee!

Today’s Color Combo:

VIA Instant Latte Box Measurements/Instructions:
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock (for the box) - 6” x 6-1/4”
  • On shorter (6”) side, score at 1/2”, 1”, 3-1/4” and 3-3/4”
  • On longer (6-1/4”) side, score at 1/2” (that is the bottom of the box)
  • Burnish on all score lines with a Bone Folder and cut and trim as shown in the photo above
  • Add Tear & Tape to the first 1/2” tab and also to the tab at the bottom of the box
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock - 2-1/8” x 5-3/8”
  • Daffodil Delight Brights DSP - 2” x 5-12”
  • Poppy Parade Cardstock - 1” x 2-3/4” (trim ends with Banner Triple Punch)
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock - Cut a 2” x 3-1/4” Rectangle Stitched Die

Here is another look at the little note card. Start with a piece of Shaded Spruce Cardstock measuring 3” x 6”, and score at 3”. The Daffodil Delight Cardstock measures 2-7/8” x 2-7/8” and the Whisper White Cardstock measures 2-3/4” x 2-3/4”. I also added another piece of Whisper White at the same measurements inside the card.

Then I simply stamped the sentiment and added a little heart from the Corrugated Elements, which are also on the retiring list. I also added an oval from these to the coffee cup on the treat box. They just add a great little pop of texture. Then I added two little punched hearts with some Wink of Stella brushed on for sparkle. The punched heart came from the Dog Builder Punch. It’s just a really good size for little accents.

I hope you have enjoyed the projects I shared today. Leave a comment to say hello and let me know that you stopped by. Make sure to check out all of the projects featured in our Third Thursdays Blog Hop.

Kylie’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop May 2019

Hello and welcome to Kylie’s Demonstrator Training Blog Hop for May! We are a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from all over the world sharing our love of stamping. We are all part of Kylie Bertucci’s training group where we are having a great time learning and growing our Stampin’ Up!® businesses. If this is the first time you are visiting my blog, welcome! My name is Anne Marie Hile and I live in the United States. I’m so glad you stopped by today!

My card features the Best Catch Bundle. The Best Catch stamp set and Catch of the Day dies are currently available in the Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Catalog and will be actually be carrying over into the new Annual Catalog which makes its debut on June 4th.
Let me preface this by saying I’m not a gal who is skilled in the craft of fishing…or anything that falls into the “outdoorsy” category, like camping. My husband, however, really enjoys that kind of thing. He was my consultant for this card. When I started coloring the fish with my Stampin’ Blends markers, I was simply enjoying blending the colors together. I finally had to break down and ask him if it looked like a “real” fish. I guess I should have done a little Google search before I started coloring, huh?
My card started with the fish and I just created a little “scene” around him. I used the Crackle  paint Background stamp (which is also carrying over to the new catalog) stamped in Crumb Cake Ink on Sahara Sand Cardstock for a weathered look in the background. Then I sponged ink around the edges of the cardstock, the cattails, the net (from the Under the Sea Dies) and the sentiment.
I added a little piece of Copper Trim behind the sentiment add a little bit of texture and shimmer. You can pull the trim apart with your fingers and it has a really cool texture. Then, I used the Braided Linen Trim tied in a little knot as an accent on the sentiment as well. This trim also “frays” really nicely when you start pulling it apart with your fingers. I thought this card needed a little somethin’ somethin’  but a bow just seemed out of place. Sometimes with masculine cards, I tend to want to overdo it with embellishments, so keeping it simple adds the right amount of detail. I like how this came out and I hope you do as well.
For coloring with the Stampin’ Blends, I used the Old Olive and Calypso Coral Combo packs of light and dark markers, then I “blended" in a little bit of Cajun Craze Light. To “move around” some of the color, I used the color lifter in different areas on the fish to create some shading. Remember to only use the Tuxedo Black Momento ink when working with Stampin’ Blends.

Card Measurements:
  • Cajun Craze Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Old Olive Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Sahara Sand Cardstock - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
Finally, a look at the inside of the card using some of the stamps and a little die cut fish from the Best Catch Bundle. I left the card blank because I thought it could work for either a birthday or anniversary…or maybe just a little love note for my husband.

Thank you so much for stopping by our blog hop today! Leave me a message to say hello and to let me know you visited today.
