Third Thursdays Blog Hop - June 2019

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month our theme for the hop is Getting to Know the NEW Catalog. Everyone on the hop will be featuring new products that are featured in the Stampin' Up!® 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.

Today, I am featuring one of my favorite bundles in the new catalog: Royal Peacock
You can purchase the Royal Peacock stamp set and Detailed Peacock dies together in a bundle and receive a 10% discount. There is a link to my store at the end of this post, after the blog roll. As soon as I saw the new catalog, this bundle was on my “must have” list. The entire suite of products is absolutely stunning! The papers and ribbon that coordinate with this suite feature a gorgeous color combo of Blueberry Bushel, Old Olive and Pretty Peacock. So pretty!
Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the colors in the Noble Peacock Suite featured in the catalog. How can you not? However, I decided to create my card with an entirely different color combo. I happened to be perusing Pinterest one afternoon and came across this photo of a PINK peacock. Wait, what? As soon as I saw this beautiful creature, I was inspired to create this card featuring one of the new In Colors, Rococo Rose
(photo from Pinterest)

Today’s Colors:

The detailed peacock die is absolutely stunning, so I decided to make it the focal point for my card. After die cutting the image in Rococo Rose Cardstock, I dressed it up with some shimmery detail using Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint mixed with 70% rubbing alcohol in one of our Stampin’ Spritzers. You just fill the bottle with rubbing alcohol, add a couple drops of the paint and shake it up well. After the die cut image was dry, I added some pearls to make this pretty peacock EXTRA fancy.
The Rose Gold Foil paper actually pairs up really well with Rococo Rose, so I decided to pop in a little more sparkle to accent the sentiment. What’s wrong a little more sparkle, right? I was also super-excited to use the new 1/2” Gathered Ribbon on this card. It has a soft shimmery detail and is even prettier in-person. I created a little “ruffled” detail with the ribbon simply by adding a glue dot between each of the “folded” layers to hold the ribbon in place.

Card Measurements:
  • Rococo Rose Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with Beads & Baubles Embossing Folder) - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
  • 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper - 1-3/4” x 5-1/8”
  • Scraps of Rose Foil, Whisper White and Rococo Rose Cardstock for die cuts
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1-1/4” x 5-1/4”

Finally, a little look inside the card dressed up with more Designer Series Paper and coordinating stamps from the Royal Peacock stamp set.

  1. Omigosh! I've never seen such a beautiful peacock - definitely Rococo Rose if I ever saw one. I love how you did the Scalloped Linen Ribbon to mimic the layers of the tail feathers - INGENIOUS! Thanks for the inspiration. xx
