Hello and thanks for stopping by! Today I am super-excited to be sharing the my card using the Royal Peacock Bundle for Kylie Bertucci’s International Stampin’ Up!® Blog Highlights.
This is my first time participating in this event and you are able to vote for me! The top ten winners will take part in an international blog hop later this month. You can vote by clicking here: http://bit.ly/
The theme for this event is Encouragement and I was immediately inspired to create a card using the Royal Peacock Bundle. The sentiments in this set are so positive and uplifting and I just love that detailed peacock image. I can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t love to open a card with that “you are incredible” sentiment. Instant day-brightener!
The peacock stamp is a Two-Step Stamp which simply means using 2 or more stamps to create one image. When it comes to the outcome, it generally means you create more texture, more color and more depth on your image. Using the Stamparatus (Stampin’ Up!’s stamp positioning tool) makes it super-easy to line up your images for perfect stamping every time!
I started by stamping the larger peacock image in Blueberry Bushel ink and then stamped the detailed image in Granny Apple Green. Then, using my Stampin’ Blends Markers, I colored in the detail in the feathers and on the top of the peacock’s head. Lastly, I went over the areas I colored with the markers with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Because a bird this fancy deserves to sparkle!
Next, I die-cut a few of the "leafy sprig” (very technical, I know) shapes in Rich Razzleberry cardstock and covered them with Wink of Stella for even more glittery detail. Now, If you don’t have the Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series paper, buy it now! The colors, the foil accents…it’s stunning! That one little piece added a lot of pop to the card. Even though it is technically Old Olive, it works with the Granny Apply Green I used on the stamped image.I enjoyed making this card so much, I whipped up 35 more of them for a swap I’m participating in. That’s a LOT of pretty peacocks, let me tell you!
- Blueberry Bushel Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”
- Rich Razzleberry Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
- Whisper White Cardstock (embossed with the Beads and Baubles Embossing Folder) - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8”
- Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper - 1-1/2” x 4-7/8”
- Whisper White Cardstock (for sentiment) - 1/2” x 1-3/4”
- Scraps of Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry Cardstock for stamped peacock and die cut images
- Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
- Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 4”
Finally a look inside the card. I added more of that gorgeous DSP, a coordinating sentiment from the stamp set and tucked in another little leafy accent for fun.
Thanks so much for visiting today and I’d love it if you would vote for my card! You can vote by clicking the image below or through this link: http://bit.ly/
