Over the Moon for PP489

Happy Sunday! Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Joanne is hosting our monthly
Theme Challenge.
Check it out and play along with us!
This challenge is just so perfect right now and a great reminder to send out some “HAPPY MAIL” and make someone smile! It’s no secret that I am a big fan of “punny” cards, the sillier the better. So, when I saw this challenge I immediately pulled out the Over the Moon stamp set. You can’t go wrong with cute cows and fun sentiments, right?

This stamp set will sadly be retiring on June 2nd, so if you want to add it to your stamp collection, scoop it up now. I’ve listed all of the measurements for this card below along with a full supply list at the end of this post.
This stamp set is fun to color with Stampin’ Blends and also works well with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. I created this little scene by stamping the cow and then a few random patches of grass and then colored everything in. I colored the background behind the cow using a Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends for some subtle shading that looked more like “sky” and less boring than a regular white background. Of course, I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the cow’s horns, face and boots along with the flower and the little grassy images. You always need sparkle! :)

Just a quick note about the gingham designer series paper, it comes from the Brights 6” x 6” DSP pack, which is already sold out. You could always use another pattern of DSP that coordinates, or even emboss some Poppy Parade Cardstock as an alternative to add texture and pattern to that layer.

Color Combo:
It’s easy to make your own "cow print” paper using the Love What You Do stamp set. The two images highlighted in the photo above work perfectly when inked up in black ink. I just stamped them randomly on the Whisper White Cardstock, alternating the sizes and turning/flipping them each time I stamped so the patterns didn’t look the same. This stamp set is also retiring on June 2nd, so if it’s on your list, get it while you can!

Finally a peek inside the card. I simply added a strip of the gingham DSP and left it blank to write a handwritten note.

  1. I couldn't wait to read your post, first to tell you that I love this little cow, and second, to find out how you made your background! Very clever---I can see how that would be much easier than drawing and coloring in your own spots, LOL! Cute as can be!
